Default First major snowstorm (kinda)

The NW is getting pounded right now... huge fluffy, really wet snow coming down like crazy. If the 0c weather drops much more, and it sticks around... prepare for driving chaos tomorrow as Calgarians forget how to drive in snow... expect an SUV to pass you in the slow lane going 40km/h over the limit...

At least I can go boarding soon!

Oh wow didn't even notice it was snowing till I read your post. It's definitely coming hard in Arbour Lake. Already a few centimeters and BRRRRR it's cold. Hilarious there's a snowstorm thread and a 22 degree thread on the same day. Gotta love Calgary's weather.

Ugh, I'm just going to leave at 6am tomorrow so I can avoid rush hour traffic altogether.

Does anyone else find it hilarious that on the same day the following two threads were started:

"22 degrees in October!"

and

"First major snowstorm"

With the ground being so warm any snow that ends up on the roads will have melted by morning.

Haha, well it didn't get up to 22.8 here today but at least there is no snow in the forecast until the next ice age.

What do you do in Australia, icarus? Didn't you used to live here in Cowtown?

It didn't amount to much. Roads were clear -- Only pain in the butt was scraping the stuff off the car. Actually a nice easing into Winter mode as it gave folks a glimpse of conditions to come without the dicey road conditions. The sun is a shining and it should be melting quickly!!!

we had a really bad snow storm 10 years or so ago in october. it was bad because many of the trees still had leaves. it was one of those not so much snow but a ton of ice, storms. trees and power lines down everywhere. they ended up cancelling halloween. most everything shut down for days until they could get it all cleaned up. it was really cool to look at though. everything had about an inch of ice on it.

ice is nice to look at, not so much fun to drive in. i'd be happy with about 4 foot of snow.

Driving through that snow last night after the game was not fun. The roads were not icy. But the visibility on Hwy 2 was brutal. If it wasn't for the tail lights in front of me, I wound't have known where my lane was. That was with my fog lights on. Thank god it had finished snowing north of Airdrie.

Glad you did take the time to scrape the snow off the car.

On the way to work this morning I saw many many cars on the Country Hills Blvd covered in snow.

I actually laughed looking outside this morning to see some snow on the ground, expected for this time of year but unexpected since it feels like spring outside. Yesterday when it was really windy it just felt like a game day to with some rough weather rolling in.
