It didn't seem any worse than anything else shown on primetime tv, or on beer commercials. Seemed pretty tame to me. It seems Americans are becoming more prudish by the day!

Well you can thank Justin and Janet for all this fallout. The FCC is out of control....

I really have to wonder.... how much of the hubub is because of a white woman jumping into the arms of a black man and implying that they have sex.... Would there be that much of an uproar if it was Brett Favre instead of T.O.?

You know, Hulse, I was thinking exactly the same thing. Nobody is going to come out and publicly object on those grounds, but it seems like there are a lot of people who are uncomfortable with the concept and the imagery.

When I watched it, I couldnt believe what all the fuss was about. Diaper commercials show more skin.

Yeah I didn't see the big deal. People look into things way too deep. Of course it has to be turned into a racial thing too.

I don't get it at ALL. Tony Dungy, coach of the Colts is insulted by it?
I don't get how this is even that big of an issue. Turn on to primetime tv and you'll see a bare back of a woman all the time.
And now the race card is being played.....man the FCC has nothing better to do then attack football or what?

The problem is that there was no warning. Yes, there are racy shows on TV in the US...but people are aware of what is going to be shown beforehand. With this, you have 9 year old boys sitting down to watch the GAME with Dad and instead they are watching something completely different.
If that's prudish, you probably don't have children.

I hear you a little bit DFF, but would a 9 year old boy actually be "damaged" by this? I don't think so.
Would it get mentioned at elementary school the next day? I doubt it. It was a commercial for an adults show that no kid would be interested in.

Doesn't matter Roos. He's my kid and I should have the right to CHOOSE what he watches. If I had sat down to watch the game with him, I wouldn't have been able to make that choice. That's why people are upset about it. Yet, they are called prudish. Unreal.
In my house, it wouldn't have been an issue, but I certainly understand the POV of those who are taking issue with it.

When I was young and something like this would have come on the screen, my dad would have just said "Whoops, don't watch". Happened all the time while watching movies and a sex scene would appear. Jokes on him though, I still watched. But did it hurt me? Heck no. If I didn't see it then, then I would havel find out on my own which could have been a bad thing.
I think too much censorship can actually do more harm than good. Kids will be lacking knowledge of certain areas and then will be limited when they grow up.

Parents still need to monitor however. Too much can be harmful as well.

Kids don't know it's a big deal until adults start making a big deal of it.

I heard all the comments today about that clip but did not see it. I just watched it now. I was expecting something else. I guess I just don't get it but that was nothing to be concerned about, IMHO. But I can agree that parents have the right to filter what their children watch.

DIS do you know that cheerleaders are spreading their legs while they dance around? Or girls with wet tshirts in beer ads at the breaks? Where's the difference?
You were right it's Just prudish puritanism. Hypocritical too IMO (In general I mean, not you. The public the network etc.)

I don't see what the big deal is. I've seen plenty worse on the news. American soldiers killing unarmed Iraqis. Now THAT I would have a more difficult time explaining to my son than some girl dropping her towel.

What is it that is so bad that the "kids" are going to see?
If they are smart enough to figure out what is going on in the skit then they are old enough to watch the skit.
Just don't think there is anything wrong at all with the skit. And my (hypothetical, ithink) 9 year old can watch that whenever he wants to.
