i was suprized at how many empty seats there were for this concert. I was sitting/standing in section 110 and there was at least 12 seats in the row in front that were vacant throughout the whole concert.

I have never seen the Hip live before and thought that it was a great concert.

I like how Gord compared Phaneuf to Bobby Orr (by replacing Bobby's name in the song "Fireworks" with 'Dion Phaneuf').

It was a great show, the opening act wasn't my cup of tea. And yeah, it was not ful to capacity.

Gord Downie is a rare talent.

:O i think i was your usher then. i think the reason it wasn't sold out is cause they come so often.

and i agree... the opening act was horrible imo.

I think he would dominate on "So You Think You Can Dance". Easily the sweetest moves in North America.

The opening act wasn't my cup of tea either, but the guys were talented.

Not much to say other than it was another great shows by these guys!!

Quite a show. I haven't been to Cowboys in years but was surprised to see them Hip there after the show. I'm sure they each grabbed a nice little appearance fee.

Smaller venues rock. Why don't more bands do a different set list every night like the Hip, Pearl Jam, etc?? Wouldn't the same stuff over and over and over in the same order become maddening after awhile?

I've seen The Hip at the small opera house in Spokane, a small theater in Portland and Boston as well as the House of Blues in New York.

I then went to an arena show after that and it has nothing on those smaller venue shows...especially the House of Blues.

I thought it was a great show. ( I couldn't take photos, though, because my cameras batteries were dead) I have never seen the Hip live before, and I got a kick out of how Downie was spinning around on his butt up on stage!

I also agree that the Sadies were not to my taste for the opening act. To their credit, they did mix up their tunes and the fiddle was great.

And the Dion Phanuef reference in Fireworks was great.

I thought the accousics in the Dome really sucked (old news), and that the review in the Calgary Sun was too negative.

I liked the show a lot!

Not a bad show, I think it was my fifth time seeing them and Gordie had good jump last night. But it would have been nice if they had played something--anything--off of Road Apples (or "Nautical Disaster" or "38 Years Old" or "Boots or Hearts" or...)!

The last time I saw them was in 2004 in Kingston, and the Sadies opened then as well (along with the Trews, Matt Good, and Hugh Dillon). I just can't get into the Sadies, even though I like country music.

Enjoyed the "R.I.P. Cowboys" sign erected on the drum kit in the encore last night.

I too saw that one and while I love Sloan and enjoyed most of the set, again there were some songs I would have liked to have heard, especially "Underwhelmed" but also "Sensory Deprivation", "Keep On Thinkin'", and "Friendship".

In sum, I wish I could dictate which songs my favourite bands would play live.

Well, that could be a problem as the Sun is Calgary's source for entertainment news...

Awesome concert. Blew out my ear drums (during the Sadies), but I liked it alot.

Saw the Hip last night at the House of Blues - just an amazing band to see in a 1200 person venue. Gord was amazing and the place was jumping all night. The opening band Joel Plaskett Emergency from Halifax were awesome as well, going to start checking out this guys work today. Awesome show!!

I didn't realize that this is a months old thread. I thought I was going to be making an impromptu trip to Calgary tonight.
