Got it tonight and put in a couple of solid hours. Fantastic game. Any FPS fan out there owes it to themselves to play this. Best experience I've had with a single player campaign FPS in a long time. Tonnes of fun. Can't recommend it enough.

Man, so far this is great. The advanced controls are just awesome... intuitive and a lot closer to the mouse/keyboard action I'm used to working with. Retro has done a great job with this one.

Gonna echo everyone here, amazing game, and very pretty to look at too
I'm not too far, but the first could boss battles are awesome and the advance controls are greats, wouldn't say it's better then keyboard+mouse but it's the closest thing you can get to it. Unfortuanately i'm already stuck stupid hard games...

If its as fun as RE4 has been (the Wii port) I'm in and will pick it up tonight, Resident Evil has been a blast to play, the Wii was built for FPS's

I really like first person shooters, but didn't really like Metriod Prime very much. I though you spent wayyy too much time walking around looking for stuff to do, more of an adventure game.
Is this one more of a blow up one? If so, I'm going to buy it.

There is more far more action and shooting so far but make no mistake, this is a Metroid Prime game through and through. Plenty of environment based puzzles and exploration along with the mindless shooting (which is great with the advanced controls option). As you probably picked up having played some Metroid Prime, this game is far more cerebral than a Halo, Medal of Honour or Bioshock. If you hated all the scanning in Prime, don't worry, there is far far less of it in Corruption.

Futureshop.com has notified me today that it just shipped. Maybe I'll get lucky and get it on Friday.
I cannot wait to play this game.
Edit: See my avatar for evidence of that

Got it yesterday. Played through to the third point where you can save (no spoilers). Very fun, awesome production, and amazing controls. Only thing I wish Nintendo had done was include a internet multiplayer (or even a split screen multiplayer). It would have made this a true killer app.

Ya I picked this up last night as well, and I love the controls, it looks great - seems pretty halo-ish to me... I'm not a big fan of scanning things, but I have not played Metroid since Super NES so from a "new to this" perspective its a blast... I played through to the first planet you visit and it was a lot of fun.
I was saying yesterday that if this was as good as Resident Evil 4 then I was in. I'm glad I picked it up - they both excell in the fun factor!
In Resident Evil 4 there is no scrolling, you don't really miss it once you start playing but when I first picked it up I was like "how can you have a shooter and no scroll" it really becomes a non-issue as you get used to the controls.
In Metroid there is no 180 degree turn button... you have to turn around by pointing your Wii controler to the edge of the screen and it takes longer than I'd like... but again I don't think it will be an issue...
Anyway if you own a Wii and don't have both these games give your freakin head a shake and go buy them now. I'm not even a big FPS fan I just really enjoy the Wii mote bieng point and click crosshairs... and I have owned or played both Halo's and they (imho) have nothing on these games... although I will say a big part of that is due to the controls, the Wii mote and nun-chuck combo is just too much fun!

If you ever played Metroid Prime: Hunters for the DS or Metroid Prime 2 (maybe you have), you should understand why there is no multiplayer. Though Hunters, was a good game, its focus was multiplayer and thus, it made for a poor single player experience, which is what the Metroid series is all about : exploration, solitude, and well paced spats of action. Metroid Prime: Hunters, is not a true Metroid game, but it is a good handheld multiplayer FPS.
The split screen multiplayer in Metroid Prime 2, is a total waste of time, and is not fun at all.
In my opinion, multiplayer does not suit the Metriod series, and it would have been at best a superfluous component to Prime 3 (which I am still waiting to come in the mail), or at worst would have seriously detracted from the single player component.

Picked it up on my way home after work today. I have never played the Metroid Prime series until now, was unsure what to expect and a little hesitant on buying it. I'm glad I did.
Awesome graphics (for the wii) and extremely fluid motions. I played for 3 hours straight before I realized I missed supper. I would have to say this is the best game for the Wii yet. As for the turning around thing... it actually isn't too bad once you get used to it. I started out on the advanced sensitivity and worked just fine.

Great post. Sums it up perfectly.
The Metroid Prime series is unlike any other first-person game out there. It has just as much in common with Zelda games than it does with Halo or Halflife (maybe more). The majority of the game is solving puzzles and finding your way around a strange planet as opposing to just having horde after horde of aliens sent for you to slaughter. Co-op multiplayer really doesn't make any sense for an exploration based game.
The turning around thing isn't really a huge deal since you never really get blindsided by enemies (and if you do it's usually by weak, easily disposed of enemies).
To those that are just picking up the game:
- Put the control settings on advanced right off the bat
- Avoid using a guide and enjoy the game for what it is. Pretty much every one of the puzzles seems trivial after you figure it out.

I agree with everything you said here, except I think there is a place for Multiplayer and kind of wish it was included... A few maps for multiplayer with some downloadable ones coming would have been fine by me, i know metroid is alot more about puzzles and environment, but its still a shooter and the option to frag some real people would have been a nice addition. I have not played a lot on line, but Mario Strikers Charged played online quite nicely (although I'm not a big fan of the game) so I know the Wii can do it well.
I guess I'm stuck waiting for a Rainbow 6 or Ghost Recon to be released on the Wii.

If you played multiplayer Metroid Prime: Hunters on the DS, you would understand that multiplayer (online or offline) is a throwaway component to the Metriod series.
As for Wii online FPS multiplayer, there is a new Medal of Honor Game coming out for the Wii called "Medal of Honor: Heroes 2", which will have up to 32 player online multiplayer with Wii controls. Turn speed will be adjustable with a sensitivity option
IGN just did a hands on and was impressed by the controls in the game, saying that so far it is on par with Prime 3's control, though they acknowledged they would need more time to come to a full conclusion
LinK http://wii.ign.com/articles/817/817116p1.html
November is its scheduled release date.

Wasn't there a multi-player on Prime 2?
I still have to finish Prime and then OPEN echoes before I think about getting this game, even though I want to pick it up. I've downloaded all the preview vids off of WiiConnect, and am I ever excited to play this title! I like the phazon corruption concept, and the graphics look decent. I am very happy to hear that the controls feel natural and work well!
Metroid and Super Metroid are also available on the Virtual Console this month! They are the two classics that touched off and elevated this franchise, respectively. I am a huge fan of both games and highly recommend to anyone that hasn't played through them to do so.
With respect to the Prime series, I like how Nintendo has retained the action/puzzle element, and the odd shout out to some old plot line elements (a la Zelda). I am not the biggest FPS fan, but I understand that Nintendo needed something to compete in this area, and I can say that they have done a good enough job combining the genres that I enjoy it enough that I can still play it and have a good time. I think that is a testament to Nintendo's ability to retain the "old fan" and attract the "new fan" as I find that many "new" or still "heavily active" gamers are big into the FPS genre. I still think that the Megaman series could have been a cool FPS/Multiplayer series (especially on the Wii), as compared to Metroid, which I think could still be a little more 'cerebral' i.e. more puzzles, thicker plot, expand on the sci-fi element. Overall, though, I am happy and look forward to trying P3 soon.
