Tables Turned!
Wild Win Big Against Habs
The Montreal Canadians have been an impressive offensive force early in the 2004/2005 CPHL season, chasing their share of netminders to the dressing room for an early shower. However, on Sunday the Minnesota Wild gave the Habs a taste of their own medicine, chasing arguably the league’s goalie, Martin Brodeur, in an impressive 8-1 win. Indeed, Brodeur did not even make it to the halfway point of the game, surrendering 5 goals before the midmark of the second.
The Wild exploded in the first period with 2 goals from Radek Dvorak and singles from Ohlund and Zednik. Robert Reichel potted his second of the year in the second period to chase Brodeur from the net. Ohlund added his second of the game while Dvorak completed the hat trick. Yannik Tremblay finished off the scoring with a short handed tally. The Habs did manage to get one behind Jose Theodore in the third with a powerplay goal from Manny Malhotra.
GM and Head Coach Grant Farhall believes it was his team’s best performance of the year.
“To come into a game like this against a top Eastern team, and a goalie like Martin Brodeur and put up 8 goals should give our guys oodles of confidence. It was great to see Radek continue to put up points, and Mattias really controlled the game from start to finish.”.
Ohlund ended the night with 4 points and was named the games first star. The blueliner is now second in the league in scoring by defenseman and has rebounded from some early season struggles.
Lost in all the offense was another steady performance from Jose Theodore as he outplayed his boyhood idol, Brodeur.
The Wild have little time to relish their victory as they have a key conference matchup against the Bluejackets tomorrow.
Game Notes
-Dvorak was named the games 2nd star, thanks to his hat trick. Sami Kapanen was named star #3 with a 4 assist game.
-Dan Hamhuis and Andrew Brunette each played their first game as a members of the Wild, and each picked up 1 assist. Sami Pahlsson also made his Wild debut but did not hit the scoresheet.
-The Wild’s farm team, the Houston Aeros, also won big on Sunday with a 16-2 victory. Of note is the debut of recently signed Roman Tesliuk who scored 4 goals in his debut.
- The 8 goal outburst for the Wild means they have fulfilled one of their sponsorship obligations and will collect 500,000 in cap room for next season.

Panthers come away with a huge point as they tie the Flyers 5-5 on Sunday afternoon. Jokenin managed to keep his point streak alive but was a -3 in the game. The Ribero line finally decided to step it up as they had a great night.
The Panthers also scored 2 PP goals which has been unheard of this year. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come!
Game Notes: Maxim Kuznetsov has been playing great since being aquired from the St. Louis Blues for a 3rd round pick. He was a +3 in today's game.
The Panthers hope to continue their hot play as they face the Predators tomorrow. The Panthers are now unbeaten in two games.

Weekes is weak!
Sunday November 14th, 2004
The Flyers quasi-crappy play continued into Sunday's contest versus the Panthers, as the Flyers allowed another massive goal count on route to a 5-5 tie with the Florida Panthers. Flyers GM was seen with what appeared to be steam coming from his ears after the last few outings his team has had.
"Apparently we're only good enough to face good teams, we can't beat crap like the Penguins and the Panthers, I'm gonna give that piece of (expletive deleted) Weekes a piece of my mind" said a visibly intoxicated Dan Lemmon. He then proceeded to pull out a Kevin Weekes hockey card and urinated on it screaming obcenities, pulled out his cell phone and started randomly dialing numbers telling everyone he dialed how Kevin was a (expletive deleted) wank, Lemmon then threw his phone into the crowd and slumped on a chair to sleep it off.
Panthers GM Dave Penney was seen feeding drinks to the already inhebriated Lemmon and egging him on about Weekes performance, saying Kevin could be chased by the lowly Hawks. Lemmon retorted with "(expletive deleted) your hat you Rasmussen lover! Hey, you interested in Kevin Wanks?"
Robert Esche is expected to get the start versus the Penguins tomorrow..

Eight is Enough
The Montreal Canadiens were oozing with confidence as they came home to paly the Wild. An eight game winning steak, they had just knocked off the Capitals, a conference powerhouse, to move into a three way tie with The Sens and the previously mentioned Caps for first place in the league. However, it all came to a crashing hault today as the Wild showed little respect in an 8 to 1 trouncing of the Habs.
"We went away from the our style" said GM Beerfund "Yesterday we played with controlled agression, today we were undisciplined. Two spearing majors, and elbowing major, 11 total power plays. We can't do that."
The Canadiens will have the day off tomorrow. However, they will be asked to forget the loss quickly, and begin to focus on the Ottawa Senators. The Sens also lost today, maintaining the three way tie for first place. Both teams are idle until they play each other on day 33. However, top spot will likely be lost as the Capitals, Thrashers and the Sharks are active over the next 3 days.

PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Coyotes pulled out an upset Sunday night against the Ottawa Senators to extend their winning streak to 4 games! Star RW Miroslav Satan had a shorthanded goal and 2 points to lead the team to victory. Nikolai Khabibulin also put up a wall and helped the Coyotes earn the win.
The win boosts the Desert Dogs to 11th in the league and 4th in the conference, excellent improvement for a team that had a slow start this year. Pierre Turgeon continues to light it up unexpectedly, he has 11 points and a +7 in 11 games, the numbers speak for themselves: this veteran is not done yet.
The much maligned Coyotes defense continues to improve with every game. Prior to the game the coaching staff decided to increase the role of Daniel Tjarnqvist in order to better balance the minutes played my each D man. Tjarnqvist now has spots on the 3rd ES line, 2nd pp unit, and 2nd pk unit.
On this night the Coyotes opened the scoring around 11 minutes into the first period when Turgeon recieved a beautiful cross ice pass from Briere and lifted the puck into the top of the net. The Desert Dogs scored the game winning goal at 18:24 of the 2nd period when the Senators defenseman pinched down from the point on the powerplay and Chris Therien of the Coyotes poked the puck past him to a speeding Miroslav Satan. Satan put on the afterburners and raced down the ice, faking the shot and the deking easily around the goalie, placing the puck in the bottom left corner of the net. The Senators immediately responded on the same powerplay, scoring only 22 seconds later... but the writing was on the wall. Only 2 minutes into the third period Erik Cole iced the game on a quick wrist shot from the high slot that found the top corner of the net.
That's all from Phoenix tonight.

Senators unbeaten streak is over at 7
Tough Game For the Senators as they were beaten by the better team last night.
Losing Defencemen Ossi Vaananen 11 seconds into the game hurt. Already missing Havlat as well we could never get thing rolling. The lone bright spot was Daniel Alfredsson scoring his 8th goal of the season.
Next up for us a game vs the tough Canadians in 3 days. It is expected that both Havlat and Ossi will be back in time for this big matchup.
