Has anyone been a part of in-game contests?
Last night at the Lethbridge Hurricanes home opener, my buddy and I (FlamesFanInEdm) got to be a part of the first intermission game. One of my buddies from university is a promo guy for the Canes and he hooked us up. We had to dress up in huge hockey pucks and race around the ice before shooting a puck in the net. It might sound a little weird lol, but its actually fun. We both ended up winning DQ ice cream cakes for our efforts, so that was sweet. And for the record, I won the race.
Has anyone else done stuff like this at hockey games or wherever?

I was at a Flames game with my Mom when I was 14 or 15 and my seat was selected to go down and shoot pucks into the net from the blueline to win some prizes. I was too young to do it, so my Mom had to go.
She had a bit of experience with a hockey stick being a single mom and raising a hockey-playing son, but she was in tough against a couple of guys who had obviously played hockey before. But with her permed grey hair sticking out of the helmet they made her wear, and her wave to our section (I think it was 221 or 219 when we had season's tix), she became the crowd favorite. She only got one goal out of 5 shots, but one of the other guy missed all 5 so she got 2nd place and won a couple of gift certificates. I was proud of her, and we still laugh when we talk about it today.
Also, this is good opportunity to introduce some of you to Tucker Max, who has a hilarious story about this very thing.

That was a funny story, I'll give him that, but Tucker Max is now and forever will be a joke of a human being.

That Tucker Max story was hilarious....
I can imagine a mascot losing it like that, that would be hysterical!

My wife got to throw the Global dice. She had to put up with Steve Strachan for five minutes, but at least she walked away with $250.
I still wonder if it was worth it.

Won a fancy BBQ set at Hitmen game. Had to answer trivia. Don't remember the question exactly, but it boiled down to Moran, Brendl, or Beech. I think it was who was not in the top three scorers in such and such a year or something.

Harold Reynolds once threw me a baseball at the end of an inning at a Cannon's game, but Aeneas shoved me down, leaped in front of me, and stole the ball from me!

I won the AMJ Campbell Move of the Game in March of 06 against Detroit. I made Osgood turn around when I yell "Hey Osgood! You're Os-bad!". Witty, I know.
At the Western Semi Final in 05, I kicked a 20 yard FG to win an autographed Burris Jersey

In my defense, not only did Harold have eye contact with me, he had already written my name on the ball. Had I not caught it, I am sure it would have gotten past the Bill Buckner of Calgary Slo pitch Troutman anyway.

At a game against Detroit in March of last year I was one of four people who won the Shanks season long draw to compete in their big contest.
The prize was a trip for two to Vancouver to watch Calgary play Vancouver later that month sitting in the Molson Box at the garage. It also included flight, accomodation (2 nights), meals, drinks at the game, Molson merchandise, and spending cash.
So with 15 minutes left in the first they usher us down under the stands to set up. Long story short I get paired up with some older lady against 2 mid age guys in a relay race. She runs the first leg and by the time she finally finishes the second member of the other team is half done his leg so we get owned.
As a consolation prize I got a Molson t-shirt, AWESOME!
So theres my ty story of me participating in an in game contest and missing out on an incredible prize. I guess I did meet all the fire and ice girls, the officials, harvey without his head on, and teh zamboni drivers.

I was one of the "If the Hitmen score in the first minute of the third period, you win a 42" Plasma TV" contestants last year. Just my luck, they couldn't even get it out of the defensive zone.
Christian is a tool, if anyone is wondering.

Me and my buddies and the rest of our sections went to the field at the Stamps game against Riders once. We ended up throwing the small football trying to hit the small hole on the moving truck. I came close of hitting it. I didn't win but it was fun.

I wasn't on the ice for this one, but at the Juno Cup in Prince Albert this year during the intermission Micheal Landsberg was doing the in-game stuff and one person had the chance to win a Tucker Leafs Jersey, so Landsberg says "who wouldn't want a Tucker jersey" I yell out "ME!" I dunno if he heard me or what but he goes "what, you guys aren't leaf fans" and the whole place boo's. It was hilarious. HA!
