Hey all - I am thinking of a trip to NYC in November (4 days). I am curious of where to stay. I'd like to be in Manhattan but do not know where. I don't really know the geography or how big it is. Anyway I am sure some people know of hotels or hostels and can give some tid bits of info... what to miss and what not to miss...
I'm not sure on hotels and hostels, but when my sister went a couple years ago she took a helicopter tour of NYC, said it was her fav part of the trip, 20mins for $75, but she said it was amazing.
I went to the New York Hall of Science when I was there. Its located in Queens, and its not the best science centre I've ever been to, but it was interesting enough.
I mention it because you're on a budget, and if you go on Sunday between 10-11am its free! And you just can't beat free.
Also don't stay in North Bergen NJ! we stayed there in August and it truly was a slimehole..it's bad when you dont feel safe walking around in the middle of the afternoon since there was a young man with a large knife sitting in the bus stop..suffice to say we got another route into NYC...also if you can afford it you should buy one of these these.. they saved me ALOT of money...things tended to be $19.00-$30.00 an attraction so the $80.00 I spent on this was so worth it.
