Anyone else get into the beta for this? I got in on the first beta, and I didn't like it very much, didn't seem to have a good feel to it (choppy, laggy) and I was pretty confused with what was going on.
With the second beta though I'm finding the game very smooth and feels tight, and now that I get what's going on I think it's going to be a great game! You really do have to work somewhat as a team otherwise you'll get beaten pretty badly. The classes are quite diverse and there's lots to have fun with with each one.
One of my favorite classes, covert ops, you have a flying drone that you can launch and control remotely, and with a click explode it killing someone. Great fun!
Anyone else playing this?

Yeah...I didn't like the first one very much...but I might try the second one. Hopefully the real game turns out.

I have been awaiting this game for a while. I play FPS with a few guys from work and they have been talking about this game for ages. The only thing is, it looks like I am going to need an upgrade in order to play this game. Which sucks. Oh well.

I played the original ET quite a bit. I was an Engineer but hated it when I couldn't get a medic to cover me.
I've heard about ET:QW for quite a while, but didn't get into any of the betas.

Yeah the engineers are cool in this one, you can of course repair and build stuff, but you can also deploy mobile gun placements, either anti-infantry, anti-vehicle, or even anti-artillery!
Plus the usual mines, though you can set them as either proximity or trip mines.
As you level up (just like ET) you get improvements, and for the engineer one is a little flying repair robot, so instead of having to be right beside whatever you are fixing, you can stay in cover, target the thing, and a drone will launch from your repair gun and fix it!

I'm "staydead", the one putting a railgun beam through your head, or abusing you with artillery.

choosing the GDF sniper rifle and getting high up on the ridge above the tunnel is downright nasty. i could sit up there all day picking people off below and no one even knows where i am. i'm also quite fond of the rocket launcher, it's not just for vehicles

Thanks for the tip. Grabbing it now at 250 KB/s. Good enough for me.

It's about 727 mb.
I am going to play this with a few guys from work. Hopefully it will be decent. From what everyone has been saying though, they have done a very good job balancing the maps and the classes.

From the demo valley map, it's unbalanced. The GDF are consistently beaten by the Strogg before reaching the bridge to construct it. I've played 5 games and we've never advanced past the first point.

I dunno, i've played it quite a bit and had both sides do the dominating. The Strogg rack up XP faster, but that's to be expected defending.
I like the change that they made that the forward spawn is cappable before destroying the shield generator though, accelerates the hacking.

This is just the final balance of the weapons and classes and run speed.. seems to be a bit smoother, and the big difference is the final GDF spawn can be capped before the shield generator is hacked instead of only after (which makes it more interesting and harder to defend against).

Well I played a ton of games tonight, made Captain. Got really bored eventually. Was just mowing down GDF with the hyperblaster. I played on a few servers and the GDF were never able to win. I never tried the beta so it just seemed natural that the bridge spawn point was available for the enemies to capture for hacking. Favorite thing was taking Icarus' up to the mountains and sniping from there. Game felt a little disconnected and not that exciting except for the MCF moving to the capture point section.
