Default Seattle hotels

Anyone been to Seattle enough to know about decent hotel rooms? Looking for something rather affordable, nothing too posh. I have never been to the area, so I don't know where to look. I would prefer something centrally located if at all possible.

Thoughts? Thanks as always.

Stayed at the Sixth Avenue Inn which is right downtown. Not too expensive. And if you're a walker, you can get most anyplace. Avoid the cab from the airport and save $35 by taking the city bus if you don't have much luggage.

We were going to stay at the Travelodge downtown back in 2002. We left after 1 night. No towels, no hot water, and rude staff. Not sure if it's any better now or not.

I can't recall where we ended up moving to after though.

Don't stay here: http://innatqueenanne.com/

It was horrible. The only good thing was its location (close to Seattle Center).

Comfort Suites (near the Space Needle) worked for a group of guys on a football trip. Reasonable rates. We could get three to a room (two beds and a pull out). Hotel provides decent continental breakfast.

Holiday Inn Express (also near the Needle) wasn't as good as Comfort Suites, but still OK.

This time we're staying at the Westin (right downtown). A friend stayed there this summer and had good things to say about it.

Have you used priceline before? I've used it several times for trips to Buffalo and Detroit/Windsor, and have always been pleased. I would check out that route if you are trying to get a deal- I've been able to save huge bucks using that site.

Never used Priceline, always Expedia.ca

I'll check that out.
