Looks like the fatty nano was more than a rumour. 160gb is nuts.

The iPod Touch is 8mm thin, and has just about the same size screen as the iPhone. “We think it’s one of the seven wonders of the world.” It has multi-touch, Calendar, Contacts, Clock, Calculator, Settings, and a bunch of icons they didn’t show yet. Stay tuned.
Coooool. I want one. Also reading that there will be a new 160 GB version that is thinner than the current 80GB model excited me.

Thanks for that link.

Man, I really want a ipod touch! Wifi and Safari browsing...wonder if there is wifi at the Dome. It would be nice to lurk the GDT while watching the game.

Yeah wifi browsing might be the killer feature for this thing, a mobile browser would be totally handy to have.

Can someone explain why the Nano is a better buy than the iPhone itself?

It seems to have a bit more storage space but no phone.... i would rather have the phone though!?

Any word on actual video content available on iTunes in Canada? Of course not.

Claeren.
You mean the iPod Touch vs. the iPhone? Yeah I said the same thing to a guy in the office, but he said he was happy with his phone and just wanted a new iPod.

Plus you can actually get a iPod Touch here in Canada without paying an arm and a leg for a hacked iPhone.

^ But that is just until the end of the quarter, and then we have iPhones form Rogers, right?

I don't quite get it, but i tend to buy the most practical thing first (phone) and then enjoy the other features (ipod) second. Versus just HAVING to have my hands on a iPod....

Claeren.
Twice as much storage is more than just a bit more.

Plus no one wants to switch to AT&T in the US.

But hasn't it gone up something like $13 over the past week or two in advance of today's news?

So the new IPod (regular) will be 80 and 160 GB while the touch IPod will be 8 and 16GB? What they couldn't figure out how to throw in a bigger HD (even 30 GB) on the touch screen?

I guess, but it is not like they won't be coming out with a bigger iPhone soon anyways??

Just seems to me that you have an 'almost everything' device on one side and an 'almost everything' device on the other. Why not focus on making ONE everything device? They obviously could....

A focus on making the iPhone work on every network (although i realize there are secondary reasons they chose AT&T) seems like the bigger task.

Technophiles (and applehiles?) will HAVE to have each i understand, but it is getting pretty confusing for the average user.

From CNN:

iPod Classic: 80 gb $299, 160 gb $349

touch iPod: 80 gb $349, 160 gb $399
-has wifi, touche screen

nano to be in 8gb, 16gb models.

*price of iphone dropping $200

That's all i saw. I love the wifi option, and the free iTunes store access at Starbucks is a good idea for them.

That's actually in 8 GB and 16 GB. Big difference!

Sure is, and the main reason I'll be waiting another year or so to replace my 4G iPod. If I bought one of these new iPod touches, I'd still use the old one more because it holds my entire music collection.

I think the disappointment in the storage space is the main reason that Apple's stock is tanking today.
