Hello all,
The CPHL (Calgary Power Hockey League) (
www.powerhockey.ca) a non-profit power electric wheelchair league is seeking additional referees for the league's up and coming 2007-2008 season. Powerhockey is a fast paced game that is fun to watch and especially to get involved in!
Some info: All games take place at Cardel place, in Calgary's Northwest on Saturday afternoons starting at 2:00pm and ending at 6:00pm. Games are one hour games with stop-time, usually lasting 1.5 hours in total duration. There are only two games per saturday and refs are not required to ref both games back to back. Flexible scheduling is fine.
Rate of Pay: The rate of pay is better than many recreation leagues in the Calgary area, and certificiation is NOT required!! $40 per game, $50 per game during playoffs is the going rate for this league.
The league and head officiator are seeking interested individuals whom have experience in any form of ice hockey, ball hockey and general rules of hockey. Powerhockey penalized infractions are similar to those of traditional hockey and can be easily learned, adapted and applied during gameplay.
Individuals with knowledge of the rules of hockey and general penalty infractions are encouraged to apply. The general demographic for eligible referees that this league is targeting are individuals who previously played hockey, whom still play OR have a good knowledge of the game and are generally interested in contributing to the Calgary Electric Wheelchair hockey community. Ref/officiating experience is NOT mandatory and training will be provided to individuals who are selected.
Availability scheduling is permitted and refs will not be required to ref every 1.5 hour slot on a saturday but ref when they are available. Again, very flexible scheduling is accepted.
Interested applicants please send your resume (if available) OR your background in hockey and your intent of interest to Joe Pack (
joepack@gmail.com). Also, if you have any other general inquiries and details regarding the referee vacancies, questions can be directed to Joe's email as well.
