Broken xbox360, how do I get it fixed?

Couldn't find anything by searching, so I call on the greatest knowledge database I know, CP!!

My launch 360 just got the dreaded red ring of death. I know MS just announced a 3 year warranty on the console. Is this retroactive? If so, how do I go about getting my 360 fixed?

When I sent mine in I just called 1800-4my-xbox and sorted it out over the phone. The whole process only took me a month or so and it came back in good working order.

Im borrowing my friends 360 for 2 weeks, today it turned on about 3 times in arow, about 2 minutes apart each time

Anyone know wats up with that?

I assume this means it turned on by itself? If so, chances are there is a controller stuck under a cushion on your couch, and everytime you sit down or move, it turns on. Pressing the big X button on the controller turns the xbox on.

Or, maybe it's just screwed.

That's what you get for being an 'early adopter.' Not only did you have to pay more then someone who bought it this year but you also are used as a guniea pig for troubleshooting purposes.
