I use that same sight all the time for testing and I agree, Calgary is always crap. I select a server anywhere else and I get to the speeds I'm paying for (shaw i extreme).

I have a few computers through a router at home and they all test well, except for the new Vista computer I got. I haven't totally ruled out the router but since an XP computer that is connected to it gets the results it should I am thinking the router is likely not the problem.

Anyone know any settings I can change in Vista to fix my net speed which is operating about 8x slower then it should? Thanks.

Here's the same results for me. I'm on Telus Enhanced right now, as Extreme is not available in my area yet. I'm paying for 3.0 Mbps down, 640 kbps up. (Extreme is 6.0 D, 1.0 U).

Calgary

Kelowna

Los Angeles

London England

Pretty consistent across the board, really.

I'm with Novus in Vancouver @ 32.50$ per month. I don't know why people bother with Shaw or Telus when they charge so much more for so much less.

Brand loyalty / feeling of security? I seem to recall a lot of ISPs going tits up in years past, leaving subscribers in the lurch. Maybe that's a false impression, I don't know. Telus and Shaw aren't going anywhere.
