Which actor could you LEAST imagine being in a Star Trek film?
If you guessed Tom Cruise, you'd be correct!

That's so random.

LL Cool J. Or Sam L Jackson, but he would be pretty sweet.

I can see why Cruise would be fascinated with Star Trek. Someday Enterprise will find Xenu and his Galactic Confederacy.

and if you believe the rumors, he's playing the former Captain of the Enterprise, Christopher Pike. (A role perfect for Ray Liotta a few years ago)

Least likely to be in a Trek movie?
I'd have to vote for Pauly Shore.

The weirdest space alien would spend a few minutes with Tom Cruise's character and think... "Man, the dude is crazy!!"
Seriously though.. Burt Reynolds (Smokey days)..

I don't know. I think I would pay to see Pauly Shore or Tom Cruise be a red shirt and bite it right quick.

Peewee Herman is the name that leapt into my mind when I read the thread title. Unless the plot involves a race of alien wankers maybe.
Edit: On second thoughts ... I can see Peewee working as Wesley Crusher.

Damn, I really do think that Cruise is one of the world's biggest nutjobs but I must say...
Tom Cruise would make a good Christopher Pike. It's too bad he won't be the scarred and paralyzed version. Oops, I just outed myself as a Trekker for the upteenth time on CalPuck.
But seriously, doesn't Cruise has some beef with Paramount and vice versa after they canned him?

Look on the bright side, the movie is likely set in between "The Cage" and "The Menagerie" so perhaps we do get to see Pike get scarred and paralyzed....
I'm personally more impressed with the rumor of Russell Crowe as the "villain" than I am with this one. Tom Cruise is a good actor, but he doesn't have the steely blue eyes that Jeffrey Hunter had. I'd actually cast Tom Hanks before Cruise for that part. Hanks is a noted Trekker and was almost Zefram Cochrane in Trek 8.
