Celebrity chef Ramsay accused of faking scenes in TV show
http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNew...=Entertainment
Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is accused of faking scenes for a new reality television show in which he was supposed to "makeover" failing restaurants in a week's time as his confrontations with staff were recorded, according to a lawsuit on Tuesday.
...
Hyde's lawsuit said Ramsay falsely claimed meat was spoiled, used a defective chair to imply that Dillons' furniture was shoddy and even hired actors to pose as customers to make the restaurant look busy at the end of the week.
Hyde also claimed Ramsay, known for foul-mouthed outbursts and star of Fox's reality competition "Hell's Kitchen," humiliated him and forced him to quit his job to avoid further abuse.

Doesn't surprise me at all. Hell's Kitchen is a disgusting guilty pleasure of mine, I love it but many times I am asking myself whether or not this guy is for real or what. He goes over the top way too often.

He hams it up for shows, but it's not like he isn't a world class chef.

Absolute rubbish. He knew exactly what he was getting when he agreed to the show. Sounds like a money grab scheme to me. Ramsay tells it like it is... if you have spoiled food, and bad furniture, Ramsay well make it known. Sounds like this Hyde person was embarassed by Ramsay and wants retaliation.
On that note, faking scenes? Sure, probably to an extent. It is TV afterall and we don't see all the footage either. So they can cut it and twist a different story out of it.

Almost every reality show carries with it some fakery most likely. But heck - its for my entertainment so I care not.

I like Gordon Ramsay, love "Kitchen Nightmares", but I can't stand Hell's Kitchen. The chef that came in second during the first season, later showed up on an episode of Iron Chef America, and is apparently quite a well known chef. After I saw that, I don't believe that Hell's Kitchen is a real show. Besides, they cook the same menu everytime. If you can't get it together after doing the same menu that many times, you are an idiot.

I think they all seem like that in the first few episodes....the strong players last season didn't really emerge until the second half of the show and I think that will be the same this season. But yeah, the guys so far this year are ridiculous. The chick who took the pasta out of the trash.....ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!?

I enjoy both shows but find Nightmares far superior and I'm looking forward to seeing the NA version of it (though I suspect it won't be as good as the England version, similar to Iron Chef America)
Nightmares give you a real sense of what happens behind the scenes and in the kitchens...you don't get the same legitimate "peek" into the inner workings on Hell's Kitchen.
Ramsay though is a guy that certainly understands what makes for good television.

That's exactly it. I'm sure Fox encourages Ramsay to blow his lid as often as possible, but at the same time they give him a group of total idiots that they know is going to push all his buttons, so it will create a lot of drama for tv.
None of the chefs are any good on that show; compare it to the group on another similar show such as Top Chef, where even the worst competitor is beter then the best on Hell's Kitchen. To think one of those clowns is going to be head chef at a million dollar restaurant is scary. Its especially scary considering every show so far they've cooked the same menu and they still can't get it right. And its not like they're being creative at all, its just cooking by numbers, and they're still terrible.

Compared to the last season of Hells Kitchen, these current chefs are like a Parkinson's victim trying to perform brain surgery with a monkey wrench. But I would have liked to see that Asian cowboy stick around. Every time Ramsay talked to him he would burst into tears. The guy had the composure of jello. It was really quite hilarious. But I am glad that chick that just got kicked off did. Every third word out of her mouth was "Um, ya'll, and ya'know" with the occasional "oh no yu diin't." Drove me insane.

Yes, he certainly does.
I did not realize he was coming to NA to do the show. That should be pretty interesting.
Some of those kitchens on Kitchen Nightmares, are so disgusting (i.e. dirty). I don't like to think about that stuff, even though I know it goes on probably everywhere.
One of his earlies episodes was funny, he had to put a jar out and every time he cursed, he had to put money in. The jar was full, I really don't think he can stop himself, he does it so much. It makes me laugh anyway!

Sadly Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares is being adapted to the States on Fox as Kitchen Nightmares... who wants to bet it's ALOT more like Hell's Kitchen in terms of style then the original program?

I think Ramsay is really asking for trouble by bringing the kitchen nightmare show over to the states. In the sue happy states he could run into one or more looking for a quick buck.
The thing I really like about his nightmare show is that you really get a sense of what type a person he is. I think he guenuinly cares when he goes into the restaurants to help them out.
This years Hell's kitchen really got me wondering on their application process with some of the people they let in. Either these guys totally crack under the pressure of lights and cameras or they just aren't good enough. Some of the mistakes they make are mind boggling.

Hell's kitchen is definately one of the best shows on TV right now. It's a train wreck happening, one after another, where the viewer sits and waits for one of the chefs to punch out Ramsey when he calls them a f----g donkey. I seriously thought it was going to happen when he took the one guys egg dish and smashed it into his chest. I don't know if he's a total a-hole like that in real life though; you'd think he would have had a heart attack at age 30 from all the teeth clenching, screaming and shouting.
I've never seen Kitchen nightmares, but if he gets to stroll into a restaurant and belittle the chef (hopefully to the point of tears) I'm all over it.

Exactly, like taking pasta out of the garbage!!
Come on.
That's another reason why the show is so suspect.
My son is in a culinary program, bias aside, he's way more competant than any of those people so far.

It's not at FOX's urging that he's like that. Heck, he's even toned down from what he was like on Boiling Point where he'd get physical with his staff.
He learned from Marco Pierre White, who has a reputation as being even more abusive then Ramsey. In his biography he's got a picture of Ramsey after White had driven him to tears.

Did you see the recent one, where the mother and two daughters owned the place, and were fighting about who should run it. What a bunch of dummies! I couldn't believe it.
The day the one daughter just did not show up to work!!
How do these people end up with money to even buy a restaurant, if they are such air heads?
