As soon as I read the thread title this same homerun popped in my head. Canseco was an amazing player in his day but I will always remember this blooper fondly.
"And now the 2-2. Well hit down the left field line. Way back and GONE! Home Run Joe Carter! The winners, and still World Champions, the Toronto Blue Jays."
Of all the "exciting" plays in all of sports, homeruns have to be the most boring. They are all the same, a ball going out, unless it flys way out of the stadium or like 500 feet or off a guys head, homeruns are all the same.
Hockey/soccer goals are always different, basketball dunks are different, football TD's are always different......not a big deal, but I could watch hours and hours of soccer and hockey goals, but couldnt watch more than a minute of damn home runs. On Best Damn 50 most amazing plays, there was a bunch of HR and it pissed me off.....those aren't amazing plays, I understand the history of it and the timing of the hit, but come on, if you're making a list of "amazing plays", give us stuff that is truly amazing and this Canseco Boink HR was amazing, that should be on the list instead of that damn kirk gibson HR, that's always in the top 10, big deal, it was GAME 1 of the series and its always ahead of Joe carters.....never makes sense to me.
With home runs, the situation is as important as anything else, and that is why Gibson's HR is so special.
I can see American TV putting Gibson ahead of Carter, though I'd put both close. White's catch in the 92 world series that led to the triple play that wasnt should be held up as every bit the equal of Willy Mays' catch though.

Speaking of soccer goals, that one goal that should have won the score64 best highlights instead of being runner up is incredible! That is 99.99999999% impossible!

Now what is this goal you speak of? Sounds like something I wouldn't mind youtube'ing!

i get chills from that moment to this day. my personal fav. sports moment in my lifetime. go jays.
Indeed. After Lanny's goal in 89, nothing compares to Carter's homer.
That said, Alomar off Eckersley in the 92 ALCS is still the biggest HR in Jays history, imo. That was the moment the Jays finally learned how to win the big game.

definitely the biggest homer. i would argue that the most significant play in jays history was when derek bell drew a clutch walk which allowed ed sprague to come up and hit that oh so timely home run vs. the braves in '92. i always thought that that at bat was so great and so important in the jays really becoming a truly great team and the world champs.
