Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet, I've been putting off buying a console for just this time, have $400 ready to go!!

I have been in a major tossup trying to measure the wii against the 360 and PS3 and it seems to me the 360 is the way to go. More game, I like the controllers, HD capable from what I understand and xbox live.

Nice, can't wait to get my hands on one!

i watched the making of the halo 3 trailer video video on that link...

i am a huge halo fan and it looks like i will have a "meeting" the morning after the launch at midnight because i will have to buy and play.

and here i thought that the halo 2 launch party that i was at was crazy!

It should be a $100 cheaper, I am a HUGE Xbox fan and have always thought they were the best but WOW the 360 is a peice of #####.

I have had mine replaced on 3 seperate occasions (of course taking forever to get back). I barely play the thing but if it isn't 4 flashing lights its 3 or the disc wont read. Everytime something goes wrong it seems I am not covered by their warranty they keep extending.

Between watching movies and playing games I might use it on average twice a week, I dust the freakin thing more than play it.

My biggest piss off is when I got my Xbox in December '05 it only had a 6 month warranty with it, well 7 months later I get the 4 flashing lights call Xbox to find out I had just passed my warranty. Well January 06 I get an email saying the warranty had been extended to 1 full year, well I bought mine about 1 year, 12 days before that warranty would kick in and they said too bad but I can pay $125 to fix it and extended my warranty 1 year from that date.

I paid it just because I wanted to play some vids again, and well 4 months later I get 3 flashing red lights. Phone them up again and I have to wait again for them to replace it didn't have to pay anything so that is good.

Well its August and my Xbox is back with them being repaired for the 3rd time for being unable to read the disc. Free of charge again.

However when I phoned in I got this automated message saying that Xbox has extended their warranty 3 years for 4 flashing red lights (my first problem) and that if I paid to get that problem fixed I would get a refund. Well I asked the person on the phone about that and they said I was not eligable because my last problem was the 3 flashing red lights not 4.

I tried to explain that theo nly reason I paid $125 was because of 4 flashing lights not the 3, the 3 is a seperate problem and they would not budge.

Be careful when you buy that thing and spend the $100 you save on an extended warranty you will need it!

Good God, are they really that bad? That kinda makes me a little nervous about the whole thing now....

Anyone else have that bad a time with theirs? Is the PS3 any better? Is there any point to buying the Elite model?

Dollar wise, it seems to make sense to buy the Elite just for the bigger Hard Drive and possibly the HDMI connection. Futureshop shows the $100 off for the white xboxs but only $50 for the elite??? Weird.

The new generqation 360s are good, the original bunch were crap. Same with every system. Just use the warranties, you'll be fine.

I have no idea what the Elite is like however I know I am not the only one I know that has had problems like this.

You know its bad when Purolator has seen so many of them as soon as they receive the empty box(to send your broke one back) they just phone you to bring in your xbox in so you can package it there and send it.

I asked the ladies there if they get a lot of repairs for the 360 and they just laughed and said it probably keeps them in business. Xbox should really rethink their warranty because working with Electronics my whole life I have never seen something so bad.

As for the PS3 I have no idea, all my friends play the Xbox because it was suppose to be the better system and how can you argue with Halo 3!

Arrgh, bought mine at the bigginning of May. Still, one of the best consoles I've owned yet. Play it way more then my Wii, and use it as my main DVD/Movie player.

Havn't had any issues with it, but apperetnly they have a 33% failure rate. The MS engineers couldn't figure out how to build a proper heat sink, lol.

No, my kid and his friends all have an XBOX360 they play it everyday all the time and none of them have had any problems. Like any new product its the luck of the draw. Some people will get unlucky and get a lemon, this could happen with the PS3 or Xbox360 etc.....

By the way when is Halo 3 going to be in the stores...

You can bridge the gap between now and then with Bioshock which comes out Aug 21.

There are going to be a lot of good games coming out in the next little while..I haven't been this excited about gaming for quite some time..NHL 08, Bioshock, Halo 3, Half Life 2..I'm staying indoors this fall.

I second that -- my brother-in-law is a driver for them and delivers multiple Xboxs each day that have been repaired... and that includes his own (early generation), which broke within three months.

It sounds like the later generation models are much better though.

I think I might have just missed the bad runs because I got mine fairly early but have been lucky enough to have no problems except for a couple freezes, and ever since I took the back off my cabinet I haven't had one of those in probably 6 months.

A friend of mine just had his 360 brick on him this past weekend, after zero problems for 7 months. I've heard the failure rate is as high as 33%. I'd have a 360 by now if it wasn't for this concern.
