Hey, I was just wondering who went to the concert tonight, because damn those guys can put on a show. Great songs, great atmosphere (not that I partook in the "atmosphere") but are the Hip always that good because that is one of the best concerts that I have ever been to. Canadian Classics.
That is the first time I have seen three encores for the show, great crowd, especially the lady standing in front of me....

It was an OK show. Nowhere near the best I have seen. The lack of flow in the concert was annoying as was the sloppiness. But its the Hip. And I love it. I dont think anything will be able to top the Jube concerts a couple years ago. Their newer songs arent built for big places like the Dome. I think, considering the empty seats, that this may be the last time we see them in the Dome.

The Hip always put on one hell of a show, I didn't get to go down to see them last night though. Three encores is faaaantastic though.
I agree with KevanGuy, I think they should do more concerts in the Jube. Hearing A Good Life Might have to Weaken on CD is nothing like hearing it live in the smaller Jubilee auditorium. Same with Bobcaygeon.
Here is the setlist from last night, incase you missed any.
Vaccination Scar
Fully, Completely
Poets
Summer's Killing Us
It's A Good Life If You Don't Weaken
Something On
You're Everywhere
Courage
Gus: The Polar Bear From Central Park
Locked In The Trunk Of A Car
Bobcaygeon
It Can't Be Nashville Every Night
At The Hundredth Meridian
Are We Family
My Music @ Work
New Orleans Is Sinking
1st Encore:
Heaven Is A Better Place Today
Scared
Blow At High Dough
2nd Encore:
One Night In Copenhagen
Ahead By A Century
Springtime In Vienna
3rd Encore:
Long Time Running
Little Bones

Oh so jealous! I wanted to go to that show (except it's kind of a trek from Lowell, ya know). I did get to see them in Boston back in September (at one of our larger clubs - Avalon) and they were AMAZING. Definitely one of the best shows I've seen to date.
Glad it was fun, though!

Was there....as always a top class show, and haven't seen them for a while live.
Lots of energy from Gordie.
Sure, the newer stuff may be a little toned down and for the Jube, but there were still 12,000 there (I was about as far away from the stage as one could, and it was still great. There are some songs that just rock that everyone gets up and stands for, that would sound funny at the "acoustical" Jube too.
Fairly certian that there was a 3rd song in the 3rd encore...can't remember for the life of me what it was...although I wish it was Wheat Kings.

They played Wheat Kings the night before in Edmonton. Wheat Kings is just a damn fine song, great live too.

I haven't been to a Tragically Hip show for a few years now (last time was tour to support Phantom Power) but one of my favourite moments was during a jam on New Orleans is Sinking. Gordie started rambling about how he was at Sea World and Shamoo began to have feelings for him. He knew things were getting out of hand when he wound up "In the Killer Whale Tank." Absolutely hilarious.

I was at the Pantom Power concert when they were in Sydney, and I can honestly say that "At The Hundredth Meridian" is the best song I've ever seen live. The song, the crowd, the lighting was 100% perfect. That song solidified me as a Hip fan (thought they were ok before the concert)
Been debating on if I should go to the one here in Halifax (it's during an insane week for me, and costs money, something I don't have alot of right now).
If you guys say the show was awesome, I might not have a choice, I might have to go

Ya, Hundredth Meridian live is fantastic. When I seen the Hip at the Jube in Calgary two years ago Gord Downie went into a huge rant right in the middle, I mean I have no idea what he was saying but it was great. Improved lyrics then wham two minutes later.. ".. if I die of vanity promise me promise me"

my absolute best time seeing the hip was when they were still considered a bar band, and they played at the Silver Dollar Action Center. Some crappy little round stage with Gord Downie spitting beer on everyone......what a classic....boy I'm probably dating myself with this one!!
Does anyone remember Metallica at the Max Bell??

You are dating me as well because I was at that show. It must have been 150 degrees in there and I didn't recognize Downie at the start because he had cut off all his long hair on the bus that day*
*assuming this was the same show on the Road Apples tour in the middle of a hellaciously hot spell in summer maybe 1991

I saw the Hip on that same tour play the Marquee Club in London...now THAT was something....I've seen them 7 or 8 times, but not in about 8 years....would have gone last night if I hadn't seen REM 2 days earlier (not easy finding babysitters)

man it was that verse that made me a huge hip fan
like you said Downie was just rambling like he does, then all but one blue light goes on him as he raises his right knee in the air, the band stops playing, and "if I die of vanity promise me promise me...." when it kicks back into "at the hundredth meridan" the band kicked back in in high gear, and when he sang "at" all the lights shown into the crowd in yellow BLINDING everyone in the audience.
was amazing

Did anyone see them perform at the halftime show, I know I'm going to catch a lot of hell from you guys on this but it was horrid. I just don't see what people like about them, I just don't get it?

I like their music, I thought the halftime show was bad
wasn't a fan of the first song, although sung well... then Courage an all time classic, why I started to like the band, and even if I never became a huge fan of the band, I'd always love this song.
Alas, I thought Gordon Downie was way off with his lyrics, our of sync, and timing. I was pumped when they started to play and was meh halfway through.
