Poll: The Other Guys
Hey guys,
Out of curiosity, I'd like to see which major league (besides the NHL) you follow the most...
MLB
NBA
NFL
Personally, I love watching basketball. I'm a recent convert and, as a hockey fan, basketball just seems more natural to me... Having said that, of course, I was raised on CFL Football, so I'm also a quasi-NFL fan... MLB can lick my...
Anyway, maybe a mod can turn this into a poll with options, etc. Or you guys can just comment as you see fit. Thanks!

I follow MLB (Jays) and the NFL (Pats) about the same. I don't think I've watched an entire NBA game in at least a decade.

Only follow the NFL casually, I'll watch if its on, same with MLB. As for the NBA, I'm a Jazz fan, but I almost never get to watch them 'cause they're never on TV.

NHL used to be #1 but I lost interest during the lockout and haven't been able to regain it.

I watch quite of a bit of football, both NFL and college. I don't follow either very closely anymore, but enjoy watching games. The only teams I really care about are the Packers and Wisconsin. I love the fact that during football season, there is a game on almost every night.
I'll put a baseball game on the TV during a lazy afternoon and nap to it, but that's about it. Can't stand watching basketball, would rather watch NASCAR, and NASCAR is like a torture.

Wow... Lack of support for basketball is kind of surprising... Especially on a hockey forum, given that the two sports have so much in common.
This is really interesting... So what is it about basketball that turns people off, I wonder?
Also surprising to me is how high baseball rates on people's lists so far...

After that it is whatever is on during that time of the year, or whatever I am betting on.

timeout.....timeout....timeout.......give a foul...take a foul....
The last 5 minutes of a game take three hours to complete. Drives me nuts. Absolutely no flow to the game at all. Some of the personalities don't do much for me either. I was a casual watcher back in the days of Bird, Jordan and Magic, before the hip-hop image seemed to take over the game.

Hey that's a good point. I'm still trying to get over the fact that taking a penalty in the dying minutes of the game is considered a good strategy, and a necessary tool, when trying to come-from-behind for the win.
I do love the speed and tempo, though... Suns vs Mavs last season was some of the best sports I've seen in a looong time.

I like college B-Ball although I haven't followed it in a number of years. NBA just became so much an individual game and many of the marquee players seemed to be jerks and thugs. On top of that, the game just seemed to be too easy for them. Get the ball anywhere inside the arc with a clean shot and it is in. Within the key it is a dunk. It seems like the misses are so rare that they make the highlight packages. There are monsters planted under the bucket wrestling for position. The officiating seems like such a joke. God forbid a travelling call be made.
I just can't relate to the NBA anymore.

After NHL:
CFL: Try to watch as many stamps games as possible and go to them, and will happily watch any game regardless of who's playing. Probably watch about 40 games start-to-finish over the course of a season.
NBA: Watch a lot of Raptors and Suns games, and will otherwise generally watch. Probably watch about 50 games over a season.
MLB: Follow Toronto all season long, but the less connected to Toronto (national league, for example), the less likely I am to watch. 40 games over a season.
College BB: Follow NCAA tournament closely, but otherwise tend to just watch games occasionally. 35 games, probably about two thirds of those coming during the tournament.
College FB: Will occasionally watch if there's nothing else on; hard to keep track of the teams beyond the big programs, but the play is far more entertaining than NFL. Maybe a dozen games.
NFL: Rarely watch unless I'm bored, don't really have any teams that I follow, and having just one day a week where I can watch a given sport seems silly. Only watch about two or three games.

When I was younger I followed all four professional sports leagues in NA. Now I never watch the NBA or MLB.

The sport that I am best at is basketball. I love to play it. But I can't stand to watch the NBA. The travelling that these players get away with is ridiculous. I don't understand why they let them get away with it?

I loved playing all through high school. In university I had a poster of Dr.J on the wall.
I haven't watched a complete NBA game in years.
