Bladetape! If Willie Mitchell uses it, it must work!
http://www.bladetape.ca/
Couldn't they find a higher profile guy to sponsor this?
In all seriousness though...
...it looks like a maxi pad taped to a hockey stick.
OK. Seriously. I like the concept, but does it work? Will it ever catch on? And how much are they? How often do you have to replace them? Has anyone used one/seen them on sale anywhere?

probably softens the impact when the puck hits the stick. Good for guys with stone hands like Moss or Nolan

B&P Cycle sells them. I'd imagine it's about as effective as taping your stick is and you'd replace the pad once it gets torn or tattered

seen that come and go for about 10 years now, pretty sure no one in my league uses it. Used 2 be the big thing with the danish guys.....now they dont even use it. Tried it before, no diffrence, either day, wax with tape would last longer anyways.....
guys and tape are funny though, some players cover the whole blade, heatley and lindros only have a lil in the middle....others just do the toe, its all personal prefrence.
from my experience that blade tape is garbage

The video with Mitchell in it was sure hard to watch! geez, you would think the guy would have a lil coaching before making a video like that. He just stared @ his stick, and continuously went "ahh"

The stuff is just terrible. It bubbles up after every use and has a horrible feel. Maybe the worst hockey gimmick since cooperalls.

I used it in roller hockey and I think that's where it belongs. Tape doesn't work on cement floors, but obviously with this stuff not being on the bottom of the stick, there you go.
It gets cut up by the puck, so I can't imagine what a skate blade would do to it.
Now, I did use a different brand, and actually really liked it. Fit on the blade much better, much more durable, and a shooters design (gives the puck an easier surface to roll of the stick)

Hilarious video with Mitchell. Snow accumlation! Snow accumulation! It's horrible.
Wonder what Juice has on his stick, it looks like nothing at all.

I've never tried Bladetape, but I use whats called the "Attack Pad", which is the same thing. I really like it. What he was saying about the bottom of the stick being right on the ice was bang on. It feels so much better. I've had mine on for a season and a half now and it's still working great. It hasn't bubbled up (you have to put it on correctly), it hasn't torn or been shredded up. I love it. I will never use tape again as long as this stuff is still being made.
I guess it's personal preference, but I can feel the puck better, I've noticed my accuracy in passes and shots is much better and it's just easier than taping a stick every game.

This reminds me of something I saw on Canucks PPV the other day. One of their D-men (might have been Aaron Miller) created some extra padding for the top of the foot where the skate laces are so that getting hit with the puck there while blocking shots won't be as bad.
Did anybody else see this?

Speaking of weird hockey products, does anybody remember those commercials waaaaaaaaayyyyyy back for the Stick Sack, with Kevin Lowe shilling for it? Essentially it was a sack... for your stick... to make it easier to carry. You know - in case you were taking it hiking.
Unfortunately for the Oilers, I guess they didn't exactly fly off the shelves, so he was forced into the whole GM gig to pay the bills.
"Stick Sack, Stick Sack" (Lowe slings the thing over his back and gives the thumbs up, smarmy grin in place) "Stick Sack!"

If Willie had some smarts, his next promo campagin would emphasize the fact that fellow defenders Bieksa, Salo, Souray, Greene and now Roy, all declined using his product....and look where they are now...

When you go visit the Gallery on the Mitchell's page, it looks like he deked out Luongo to score on his own net. Not just once but twice!

Thanks Gordo! Looks like Huselius only uses a single strip of tape across the lower front of the blade. None actually wrapped around.
And Warrener uses Blade Tape! Wow, maybe that's why he's not very good with the puck :P

Whatever you need (Flames sticks last few years)
I am pretty sure Warrener just tried it out, that is the only stick of any player I have seen with it on (and I have had a few)
