Default Who here likes to bet on Sports?

This is my new thing, work as been pretty freakin slow for me the last month or so and there is only so much CP and Facebook to go around in an 8/hr day.

When I pick/guess my teams I have just been taking a look at their home/records and who is pitching and their stats. But would just like to know if their are other sites other than sports.yahoo.com/mlb which I am currently using.

I personnally bet very litte ($2-5/day) on MLB right now, because I have no clue about the teams really but it gives me and my co-worker something to talk about. So each of us picks our teams, take turns going to the lotto booth and just watch the scores on The Score throughout the day.

I actually got lucky and won $110 on a $2 bet. Picked all 6 games correct one night and now I have to admit I am a little hooked on keeping up with the current MLB/CFL scores and starters. Which before I never really had a clue let alone even cared.

So my question for everyone is what sites or information do you use to make your picks and how successful are you? What are your favorite sports to bet on?

Also if you want to share some info of your great success story (most money won) on a bet.

Thanks for helping out a really really bored guy!

Good on you to get into sports through betting. During the lockout year I said to myself that this was going to be the season that I got into basketball. For me not even betting could spark an interest.

Closest I ever got to a big payoff was betting on 6 ties in hockey. (Back when you still could do that.) 4 games were one night; and they came back ties. Next game the next night- tie.

So for the final game- we were working in a restaurant and kept calling the Talking Yellow Pages every 5 minutes for a score. With about 5 minutes left in the 3rd period we realized because Montreal was playing the game would be on the French radio station. It was 2-1 Montreal and with 4 seconds left Chicago tied it up.

During OT we stayed by the radio. People kept coming into the back saying there was orders to make. Then of course with 30 seconds left in OT- somebody scored. A $2 ticket that was almost worth $100K went down the tubes.

I don't like to bet on team sports. I'll drop $50 on the NCAA tourney once each year, but that's about it when it comes to team sports. I do, however, like to bet on MMA and Boxing matches. I'll usually stay around $100-$200. Never have won the farm, but haven't really lost big either. The most I've lost on one fight was $300 ... friggin' Gabriel Gonzaga.

I got a $25 bonus from SportsInteraction.com and have played with it for about six months. Picked some really big UFC upsets and at one point had it up to $800+.

But I've taken some bad losses in the past week and there's not much left of it. Just yesterday, I had the Angels to beat the spread (+1.5) vs the A's...they blew a 6-3 lead in the ninth and only won it by one!

Just a couple days before, I had the Tigers to beat the Sox for a sizeable amount of money...Went to bed when they were up 7-1 and wouldn't you know it - the Sox won it 8-7!

At any rate, I've had a lot of fun with it and will likely make a deposit at the start of the NFL season and hope I can play with it all season.

I refuse to bet any money through Sports Select. It's a sucker's bet. It is incredibly stacked in favor of the house.

I too have an account with Sportsinteraction. I usually stick to NFL and sometimes NHL. I don't really like betting baseball.

Have you made any withdrawals since the Know Your Customer Form requirements? I haven't made a successful withdrawal since providing them with that info and I've made several attempts. I'm switching to a new online sportsbook for football season.

Used to be easy to withdraw from SI but not anymore.

I haven't made any bets recently, so I haven't tried. I still have about $100 sitting in the account.

What makes it so hard? Or what is the problem with it?

Just curious because I was thinking of joining....also what other sites are there?

I always found ones that would not let people from Canada join.

Does everyone just use their gut feeling or do you use a site to kinda help you on your bets?

Hoot...they require more information these days before withdrawals can be made, including photocopies of your credit card and photo ID. It's because of US legislation contained in the Patriot Act and is aimed at ensuring you're not a terrorist using the site for money laundering purposes.

It's just a bit of a pain. Having said that, I have made successful withdrawals through them in the past.

In terms of betting, I tend to choose games I'm interested in watching and read the pre-game reports on the Web.

I bet quite a bit on mma, hockey, and EPL. mma I generally do fairly well with the other two being up and down.
I personally use www.pinnaclesports.com for betting and use instadebit for money transers. It has become increasingly more difficult to transfer money lately so it's a bit of a pain.
I hate sports select, the mandatory parlays and their rules have it so stacked in their favour...

Definately NFL.

When I was in University, that paid for my car insurance and spending money - it was easy money.

Today, not as easy, you have to really study the teams for a few weeks before betting.

Ya i love how if a team loses by 1 run its considered a tie... and a 3 points lose is a win in football. Thats at least if sports select is like Sports Action here in BC.

I usually play it jjust $2 bucks 6 games, keeps me busy at work, and have been lucky and won once but only with 5 games.

Does anyone use any sites to help them pick? Like summarys and top picks for the day?

I haven't, but during football season I listen to FOX Sports Radio on XM on the Friday and they provide pretty good breakdowns of that weekend's games which I've found very helpful.

They also have Brandon Lang on as a guest quite often. His record is unbelievable and he's made me some good money on college football, which I don't even follow closely myself. He was the inspiration for the movie Two for the Money.
