Default Food poisoning [I think I know from where]

So I'm sitting here clutching my stomach in pain. I think back to what I've eaten the day before and I have a strong feeling that it was the mozza burgers I ate at the A&W in Canmore last night since my other meals were all simple and homemade.

Is there anyway I could call up the health inspector and have him/her to check things out there?
Is there anyone who has gone through food poisoning before?
What should I do?

I've edited your thread title; just because as you say in your post right now you have a suspicion.

But yes, call the health board on Monday and express your concerns.

ive worked in a fast food joint that was dangerously close to failing its health inspection. they give you a warning and like 6 months til they come back. scary thing is the major chain i worked at (the location in crowfoot) was truly disgusting...and they passed the inspection. it would have to be like rats in the mayo jar to fail.

If you truly had food poisoning you'd be vomitting constantly for a couple days straight. I remember getting food poisoning a few years ago and vommiting at all hours of the day, and once my stomach was empty of food, I started vomiting foam. Probably the worst two days of my life.

It sounds like you just had some crappy (that pun was intentional) fast food. If you do have food poisoning, you'll know it. You and your toilet will become very close.

I dont know why everyone believes food poisoning has to result in vomiting. Food poisioning can be caused by a ton of different things (viruses, bacteria, chemicals, etc) and can result in many different symptons. Vomiting is a common sympton BUT you can have food poisoning and just have the #####s real bad.

Keep in mind food poisoning can take effect anywhere from 4 to 72 hours from the time you ate. A few things to keep in mind:

- You have discounted homemade food from the cause without giving a good reason. What other foods have you discounted and why?
- You haven't been to a doctor yet; you could have any number of things wrong with you. Food poisoning is possible but can't even be put into the category of "most likely."
- Restaurant food poisoning affects many people all at the same time.

The best thing you can do is contact the health board; which was the basis of your original question in your original post. If there's a pattern; then they will act upon it.

Oh man, about 4 years ago I had the same thing. The only time you wanted to move was when you needed to get to the toilet as fast as possible. You feel like dieing, you can't sleep. Dry Heaves, that foam or w/e, throwing up any sort of water, undigested food (if you can even put it in your mouth), you name it. Lasted 3 days for me. Not a fun time.

Getting the runs and a bit of gas pains isn't terrible for food poisoning. You'll probably be OK, but if it lasts for more than a few days, I'd get a little more worried.

After doing some research and becoming aware of just how many different micro-organisms cause "food poisining" I can see how diarrhea can be the only sympton in minor cases.

I like learning new things.

Maybe your terrible schlitz has something to do with the mozza burger and not that it was prepared improperly?

###

Taco Bell on Boxing day when i was in the 11th grade...about 10 hrs after eating there (the only food I ate all day, ick) I was laying at home on the couch watching TV and started to shake uncrontollably. This was followed by many hours of bonding with Mr Kohler and several days of a fully liquid diet.

True food poisioning is the worst feeling I've ever experienced.

My roomie says he had it several times in south america, the worst was a 5 hr bus ride where he spent the first 4 hours throwing up out the window, the last two being totally dry heaves.

You might want to consider actually going to a doctor and getting properly diagnosed first....

i have a cousin who is a hypochondriac, she can convince herself that anything is a serious illness. i can understand how easy it can be to jump to conclusions, but honestly, it's just the mud butt.

Yeah, see a doc. Big thing is, drink liquids, lots of them. Cold drinks, will also help calm you down, makes you feel a little better. Gatorade is very good. It has a bunch of electrolytes ( I can't remember if that's the word, but that's the one that comes to mind) that helps you absorb water faster. Also, drinking water gives you something to throw up. Dry heaves, or like, thick foam is a lot worse than spewing water.

I like how you think you have food poisoning, but are still on CP. Oh CP, you own our souls.

Yeah, had pretty bad food poisoning last year. It took me 2 weeks to finally be able to eat solid food again. But I still can't look at chicken wings without feeling nauseous.

By the way, for anyone who says diarrhea isn't that problematic, it can kill you. But that's only in severe cases. Because you're constantly spewing out the back side, you're not given enough time to absorb water. So I think after 3 days of nonstop diarrhea, you die of dehydration.

Like the others said, who knows if it's food poisoning or not. If I called a food inspector on a place every time I got diarrhea, I'd be on the food too many times. Basically have to eat McD's while sitting on the can, but that doesn't mean I have food poisoning. In the meantime, you can always visit a doctor, call Calgary Health Link @ 943-LINK (5465) or 1-866-408-LINK (5465) for free advice from a registered nurse.

People are quick to make armchair diagnosis. Everytime I get a cold, it is a certainty that someone will try to tell me that I must have allergies.

Are you sure you didn't eat this:

Seriously, though, it can be really tough to pin down the cause of food poisoning (even if it is that) because it can take up to 72 hours for symptoms to develop. And then, it could always be something else... did you wash your hands before you ate? Come on, be honest.
