Jon Lovitz = hero (kicked Dick's ass!)

Laugh Factory owner Jamie Masada said, "Jon picked Andy up by the head and smashed him into the bar four or five times, and blood started pouring out of his nose."

Dorothy Lucey of Good Morning LA dished of a brutal brawl that happened between comedians Jon Lovitz and Andy Dick last week at an L.A. comedy club, The Laugh Factory over deceased Phil Hartman.
The fight was over the allegations of Dick's cocaine offers to a then sober Brynn Hartman at a party that happened years ago.
|
Quote:
Lovitz and Dick have been warring since a Christmas party in 1997 held at Phil Hartman's house where according to Lucey, Andy Dick was reportedly doing cocaine at the party and offered some to Hartman's wife, Brynn, who had been sober for 10 years.
Five months later the murder-suicide occured, and Lovitz blames it all on Dick giving Brynn the cocaine, and once told Andy when filling in on Hartman's TV show Newsradio, "I wouldn't be here now if you hadn't given Brynn that cocaine."
|
Jon Lovitz is the man for this act alone (the Critic also helped him along). It was about time Andy Dick got an ass whooping.

Good for Jon Lovitz, but really beating up Andy Dick would be like beating up a 8 y/o girl. The worst that could happen to you is maybe a bite mark.

Lovitz apparently smashed Dick's head into the bar a couple (5 or 6) times.
Go Lovitz!!!

People still book Andy Dick to perform. I've seen him in person and he is simply not funny.
If he gave coke to a recovering addict that in my mind is pretty reprehensible. Then to go up to Lovitz who I guess was extremely close to Hartman and tell Lovitz that he's the next to die because of the Hartman curse.
Wow, Dick is just a repulsive human being.
Good for Lovitz for washing the bar with his face.

The Cleveland Leader.com reports that Dick allegedly goaded Lovitz some more, saying "You know why I said it? Because you said I killed Phil Hartman." Lovitz claims not to have said that, and said that Andy then asked him to be in his new movie which then ignited Lovitz who allegedly screamed "I don't want to be in your movie! I don't want to be in your life!", and smacked his head repeatedly into the bar.
The club's owner, Jamie Masada, witnessed the fight and said: "Jon picked Andy up by the head and smashed him into the bar four or five times, and blood started pouring out of his nose."
EAT FRESH!!!!!

In 2005 Dick stirred controversy in Edmonton, Alberta, at Yuk Yuk's comedy club when he dropped his pants and exposed his genitals to the audience. Amidst the uproar he was ushered off the stage and the second night was cancelled

I always thought he was a bit of a moron. The thing is Dick is also a moron who may have helped Hartman's wife get back on the coke train so Lovitz climbs a notch on the moron scale as far as I'm concerned.

Gonna play devils advocate here...
If Hartman's wife had been sober for 10 years and then accpeted coke from Dick, shouldn't she be held responsible for that?
That's not to excuse Dick's actions, but if he didn't force her to do it, it was her fault. And Phil Hartman's actions were his fault after being depressed from the actions of his wife.
I'd have to agree with Dick, that for Lovitz to blame him for Hatmans death is pretty far fetched. The Hartmans hold responsibiliy for their own actions.

First off good for Lovitz, Andy Dick is a putz and on the same level as Courtney Love imho.
I don't think anyone is saying that she has no personal accountability but if I'm friends with someone that is recovering from a addiction and has been clean for ten years and you come along a wave the item - be it drugs or booze or gambling - in front of my friends nose, offer it to him/her and they end up falling off the wagon, damn rights I'm going to hate you and hold you responsible for your actions… you’re a junkie that instead of just ruining your life had to drag someone else with you, and then to top it off my friend is dead while you walk around continuing to be a dick... sure ultimately my friend is responsible for his or her actions but doesn't mean I don't have the right to want crack you against a bar five or six times... it quite frankly would be a pleasure in those circumstances I think...

Score one for Lovitz, while it is really hard to know every detail and see it all in context his reaction seems fairly natural for a guy sticking up for friend who's life ended well before his time. Phil Hartman's passing was very tragic and truely undeserved, very unfornate the situation with Andy Dick may have helped lead up to this and the guy deserves much worse.

I don't blame Lovitz for hating Dick. And beating him up is fine by me too. But Lovitz seems to blame Dick for the Hartmen deaths and I think that's over the top. He may be a dick, but his role in the deaths is quite minor if all he did was offer her coke.
