Default Stony Plain and area?

Hey there, hope everyones summer is going good.A couple of questions.Wondering if anyone has ever been to the area west of stony and spruce grove.I gotta go there for work for the next 6 to 8 weeks and need a spot to lay my head.Everything in stony is booked up.Anyone know of any little towns out that way.I found the town of Wabumun but cant find much info on it.Like is there a grocery store and stuff like that.Any help would be great.I am working about 30 mins to the west of Stony.Thanks.

My wife's family has a cabin at Lake Wabamun and we spend a little bit of time up there throughout the year. Wabamun has a hotel, liquor store if you're so inclined, drug store, grocery store, hardware store. In fact, I've found the grocery store (Specht's Bigway Foods) to have prices that are quite reasonable. I cannot, however, vouch for the hotel.

You may wish to consider camping. There's a nice provincial campground - with running water - in Kapasiwin, just across Moonlight Bay from Wab.

You can look at either the west side of Edmonton or even down in Drayton Valley for rooms. Depending on where your work is either would be an option.

A bit of a drive either way butt better that the back of your truck...

I have a cabin at Lake Isle so know the area quite well. You could consider Alberta Beach. There is a well stocked grocery store there, a bar, some take out places etc. etc. I don't know about places to rent. There is a hotel there though. I would certainly prefer to stay there over Wabamun. However, after saying that, it does have amenities as Pope mentioned. There is also a pretty good coffee shop there.

There are a few other places. Gainford has a hotel on the 16 I believe. There are not too many amenities there though. You can go to Evensburg/Entwistle, which is a little further west, for grub and stuff and perhaps digs too.

Good luck.
