Default Zip.ca DVDs gone missing

I've been a member of zip.ca for about 6 months now. However, in June, a DVD did not arrive. I waited two full weeks and nothing. So I contacted zip.ca and they classified the DVD as "stolen". Which means that you lose a DVD slot for a month *AND* you lose ziprefill for the rest of your membership.

I complained bitterly that I shouldn't have to lose either of those things for a DVD that didn't show up. After fighting with them and threatening to cancel my membership, they relented and restored the slot/ziprefill.

Now it is July, 6 weeks later and guess what - another DVD has come up missing. I'm thinking that rather than go through that again, which will be harder this time since one didn't show up last month, that I should just pay the replacement cost for the DVD that didn't show up. I'd hate to cancel given how much cheaper it is than renting from Blockbuster.

I hated ZIP. The average price per movie did indeed work out to less than what I could rent for at Blockbuster or Rogers, but in order for that average price to fall, I had to rent a lot of movies. And it turns out that there really aren't that many movies that I wanted, so I started to rent crap just for the novelty of it. During my time as a member, I also didn't get so much as a sniff at new releases. Simply impossible to get them it seems.

Well, I don't use it for watching movies. I use zip for watching old TV shows. Yeah, I don't doubt getting new releases would be difficult.

That's actually a good idea. A lot better selection of TV shows than any store.

Since you live in Ottawa maybe you should look into picking up the movies at their offices on Auriga Drive just off Hunt Club. How can they lose two movies that close together when they're mailing within the same city?

I was with zip for awhile but they always sent me crap way down on my list and overall I wasn't happy with the service. I'm with www.canflix.com now and they are much better. Always get movies in my top 20 picks or so and they arrive within 2 to 3 days at most. I would recommend them over zip any day.

Problem resolved. Apparently Canada Post delivered the DVD to the wrong address. The fellow that received it was busy this week so he didn't have time to drop it off until today.

(He saw the Wii box in my entry way and asked if it worked well. So I invited him in to give it a try. I'm playing tennis against some stranger that received my DVD by mistake. )

It still bugs me that zip automatically punishes their members when a DVD goes missing and nine times out of ten it's Canada Post that f'd up.

Canada post does seem pretty spotty at times, I know our new mail carrier has been incorrectly delivering mail to our box for a while. Luckily, none of my DVDs from RogersDirect have been improperly delivered...yet.

The biggest issue with the online service from RogersDirect (powered by Zip) is getting new releases, no question. But I enjoy not having to go to the store, especially Blockbuster.
