Default SatNav Options

I'm looking for some input from CP on purchasing a portable SatNav.

I narrowed it down to either the TomTom One XL or the Garmin Nuvi 370. I want to be able to have maps of both North America and Western Europe on it. Both of these units fit the bill, with the Garmin having both maps preloaded, and the TomTom having them available. Price-wise, it works out to less than $50 between the two once you add the extra maps in.

What are CP's thoughts on the TomTom vs. the Garmin?

The TomTom units are quite popular in Europe, according to the North American supplier I was recently talking to. I've played around with one, and they seem decent enough. I've also owned two Garmins in my time, and Garmin has been in the game for a long, long time. If the prices are close, and both have the features you want, I'd lean towards the Garmin myself.

I recommended the Nuvi to one of my former season ticket holders and she loves it.

I like Garmin's stuff, and I've heard that TomTom's navigation software isn't the best.

I just finished driving from Nova scotia through the States to move back to Calgary and I used the Garmin Nuvi 250, great machine, I really like how slim the nuvi models are, easy to use. Never had a problem the whole way with it.
