Default Specialty Food Stores

I'm basically looking to buy large quantities of peppers. Mainly some Habaneros, only fresh of course. Also looking for Chipotles and Serranos. Anybody have any idea where I could pick a few bag loads up year round?

Also looking for some fairly rare spices. Well, maybe not *RARE*, but rare enough that Co-op, Sunterra and the usual suspects don't have them. Stuff like black coriander and such. Any ideas?

Try Boca Loca:

http://www.bocalocacalgary.com/

Boca Loca is a specialty Mexican food store which offers take out lunches, authentic Mexican cooking classes and catering.

Sometimes I see fresh peppers at Safeway and Superstore.

Also, check out the Spice Rack (across from SWC High School).

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

Also looking for Xantham Gum. It's a thickening agent and I need it. Help!

You'll need fertilizer and deisel fuel to finish your bomb.

I'm quite the hot sauce connesuer and have decided to try my hand at making my own. I have a friend from out of town that has made his own for years and has sent me directions and recipes, but of course, I have to find my own ingredients.

Not exactly what you are looking for but Farmers Markets will have all sorts of peppers later in the summer. The Crossroads on Blackfoot is where I go.

Have you tried online? There are online stores for nearly everything.

Cookbook Co on 11th Ave downtown near 7th street is good for spices. You can also find a lot of dry ingredients, oils, etc there. Reasonable prices too.

As for the peppers, Id say call around. Mid-town Co-Op and Superstore have those peppers from time to time. Chongos at crossroads market has had those peppers from time to time as well.

Ill also mention Mercato on 4th St in Mission. You likely wont find the peppers there but its great for a lot of Italian and European ingredients.

Same here, I finally gave up and started growing my own in my
wife's greenhouse.
You could also look at "Some Like it Hot" up in the N.E industrial area
Don't have fresh peppers but only sell hot sauces, chips, marinades and
BBQ sauces.
