Default Help with hotel during stampede (yes, late notice)

Im looking for a room for next thursday to sunday.

Looking on hotels.ca theres still stuff out there but im not familiar with a lot of them.

anyone got any recomendations on a good hotel outside of the downtown area since everything central seems to be full?

anyone work in a hotel and know they have vacancies?

There might be some vacancies in red deer...

Try the NE The Cavalier, Sandman, and such anything on barlow trail.

try places in motel village in the north west - near mcmahon (football stadium). Stay away from the royal wayne motor inn and the alcove (i think that's what its called). Otherwise, lots of options - from hampton inn, to econolodge, to....etc etc...

Try the Ramada in Motel Village...I was calling for a relative last night and the guy said they had 5-6 rooms each night of Stampede still open.

There's a strip of hotels in the Bowness area that might have vacancies. Just don't get the Fujii suite at the Red Roof Inn (at least I think that was the name of the motel)

Hey, I've been known to have the odd one...or two...or three...or....there as well before . Its fun every now and then - definately a blue collar type of bar. That makes it fun.

That said, have you viewed the rooms in the hotel that are actually attached to the bar? Or at least I think they are part of the same complex. YUCK is being kind. YUCK again. I was able to see them once for a few minutes, but....yuck again.

Tou could try High River. It's only 48 kms south of Calgary on the #2.

We have the Super 8 Motel - 1 - 652 - 4448

Then there's the Heritage Inn 1 - 652- 3834

Hope this helps

Thanks for the ideas.

Theres gonna be a lot of drinking involved with the visitors so the closer to downtown the better since cabs can get expensive.

Ive been looking and its a balancing act. It looks like $200 to $250 is about the average rate for a decent place within 15 min of downtown.

OH! But Motel Village is a quick C-Train ride away, and IIRC, C-Trains run 24/7 during stampede. So look for something near a C-Train station and you're golden.
