7 new WONDERS OF THE WORLD chosen!
Amazingly, Calgarians over inflated view of themselves didn't make the cut.....along with the Eiffel Tower, Easter Island in the Pacific, the Statue of Liberty, the Acropolis, Russia's Kremlin and Australia's Sydney Opera House.
So we will have to be satisfied with these

Cool, I contributed to the destruction of one of the new wonders when I climed Chichen Itza a few years ago. And my brother in law saw the Great Wall of China earlier this year.

The Great Wall, China
Machu Picchu, Peru

The Taj Mahal, India
The Colloseum is the only one I've seen in person. Of the 21 finalists, I've also been to the Eiffel Tower, Neuschwanstein Castle, and Stonehenge.

Out of those 7 that were chosen i've only seen 2 in person (Taj Mahal and Chichen Itza). Taj Mahal is beautiful and I knew it was a lock to be on the list.

I've seen Chitchen Itza, Christ the Redeemer, and the Colloseum. I certainly want to see Manchu Pinchu as well and it's sort of in the plans. It's a bit surprising that only one European monument made the new list. Although I suppose Chist the Redeemer originated in Europe as a gift to Brazil.

I've seen the bolded, hoping to see Machu Picchu and Christ Redeemer in the next year.
Other finalists I've seen,
Effiel Tower (decent 21, nowhere near 7)
Neuschwanstein (decent 21, nowhere near 7)
Statue of Liberty (questionable 21)
I think a couple other sites in Rome and would have been more worthy considerations

Hang on, the pyramids at Giza didn't make it?
Phhhh...this list sucks.
EDIT - oh wait
Quote:
The pyramids of Giza, the only surviving structures from the original seven wonders of the ancient world, were assured of retaining their status in addition to the new seven after indignant Egyptian officials said it was a disgrace they had to compete.
