I'm kind of scared of the Simpsons movie... just because for the majority of the time when a famous show or group does a movie, they go downhill afterwards.
Still can't wait though.

Unfortunately, the Simpsons have already gone downhill...there's not much further they can go...or can they?
I heard a rumour that the movie was written/produced by the guys on the show during the show's prime, in which case, I can't wait!

the South Park Movie made the series even more popular, and that show is the best it's been. for the Simpsons though i see the movie as a farewell show being that the show has been on for so long. and as Futurama is slated to make a comeback, Matt Groening may want to focus solely on that

The Simpsons should've been cancelled 8 years ago. Honestly... It went from gold to poop overnight it seemed. Was a Sunday ritual, and I haven't watched it in seriously 8 years.

Do they still make new Simpsons shows?
They were dragging on about 5 years ago and I can't imagine how bad they are now.
The bad new ones even ruined the old ones for me. I can't even watch the classic re-runs anymore because I'm so sick of the Simpsons.
IMO, this movie will suck, but hopefully I'm wrong

I believe in the Pony Power

It is indeed true that they brought back a lot of the writers from the show's prime - so one would think if you liked it back then, you'll enjoy the movie.

I hope the movie is good. The trailer was anyways. I agree the show has gone downhill. But I don't think it was overnight...its got a little worse every year. I still watch it every week and every once in a while they have a good episode. By the way, in a recent interview I read (sorry, don't remember the link) Matt Groening said there is no end in sight to the Simpsons.
I'm so looking forward to Futurama coming back. It was my favorite animated show of all time!

What? Eight years ago was their prime. I would say the last 4 to 5 years have been the slow decline.

Hope the movie doesn't suck. I haven't watched in a few years either. South Park lost me as a viewer when it did it's disgusting satire of Steve Irwin. They're *******s for making fun of something as terrible as that.

What episode was that? I only remeber Southpark making fun of him twice. Once several years ago, and more recently for only in a small scene.
The thing with Southpark is they don't have a line, that's what makes it different than most shows out there. Southpark makes fun of everything, eventually they are going to make fun of something that offends you too. (See: Scientology)

the difference is that Scientology IS a joke, Irwin's tragic death is most certainly not.

I'm sure there are people who would disagree with you about Scientology. (not me). Although I agree that Irwins death was a tragedy, I don't see why that would make him untouchable. Plus they didn't really make fun of him.

Well, not to derail the topic, but Southpark had an episode last night that would offend a plethora of viewers...
They pulled on the Irwin thing again last night... referring to someone dying quicker than "Steve Irwin in a pool full of stingrays."

The first time they did it after his death was just a few episodes ago, he showed up to Satan's halloween party with a stingray sticking out of his chest.
Southpark is notorious for offending everyone.

There was also a part where someone says "Its not like they're gonna kill us" and someone else says "thats what steve irwin said about the stingrays"

The day that everyone worries about offending others is the day that laughter dies.
If you're offended by something, too bad for you. Don't watch the damn show. The world is going down the ****er because of people constantly complaining about being offended. Activist groups: they're offended that Evolution is taught in school; offended that Gays are allowed to be married. Everywhere, people bitch and moan and often the government takes action because of their complaining. Somebody needs to teach these people how not to be offended.
Face it: Essentially all humour is based on offensive pretenses. I commend South Park for constantly pushing the edge; sobeit if some people's feelings are hurt.
Of the Simpsons Movie: I'm sure I'm going to watch it, but with very low expectations, so it'll most likely turn out better than I think.
