Fishing suggestions

Could anybody recommend good fishing areas in the Drumheller/Calgary area where a boat is not necessary to catch good size fish? I’m looking for a drive under 2.5 hrs. Any suggestions are appreciated.

On the highway between Banff and Lake Louise, there's a roadside turnout overlooking the Bow River. My Dad and I used to fish there. Caught a few decent size trout. Also, because of the current, the fight from the fish is pretty good, although there's enough drag from the current to lead to plenty of false alarms. This was years and years ago so I don't know if you're still allowed to fish there.

Just south east of calgary on the bow is fantastic fishing... look to go where the highwood runs into the Bow. Directions are hard to give but I can get them if you want... you fly fishing or spin rod?

In a month or so head down to where the highwood meets the bow south of the city. If you are fly fishing try a SanJuan or Prince Nymph dropper with somekind of dry fly/stimulator above. RoyalWuff is a favorite of mine as is an orange stimulator. Hopper above in August if we get a bunch of hot days in a row.
