"no president has ever relied on the stupidity of the american public like George Bush"

I rely feel that N.A. is in serious trouble Canada and USA have the two biggest idiots running the number 1 powerful country (Bush) and 1 of the most economically powertful countries (Martin).

Well boys and girls we officially have the stupidest leaders on the planet. When Martin was elected I thought that maybe the Americans would see the mistake we had made for electing the dumbest leader, but than my hopes were let down and the US made the same mistake.

Well I'm not a big fan of either, but my tune quickly changes when I compare them to the likes of Kim Jong in N. Korea.

I'm not so sure about the hate on for Martin. He's a step up from Chretien and Harper

Our way of life in the west is frail. Democracy is frail. It must be protected and guarded. Freedom in the political landscape depends on honesty in our elected representatives and those (beaurocrats) who stand behind them. When we have officials that value business interests over honestly we begin down a slippery slope. Look at Gary Mar in the Alberta legislature for instance. It becomes public knowledge that he gave away hundreds of thousands of dollars to a political friend and it hits the front page. Nothing is done. No charges laid. No investigation. The story just gets pushed farther and farther back in the front section of the newspaper until it blends in with the white noise of previous blunders. Sponsorship scandal. Gun registry. Helicopter contracts. Partonage debacles. Public works scandal. When does is end? Does anyone ever get held accountable? Do we just resign ourselves to the scandal and corruption?

I read once that democracy depends soley on the trust of the people. Just like a banking scandal. If enough people yank their savings a bank will fail. Can we afford to see a 'run' on our confidence in our respective governments?

Wow look at hot sauce with the though provoking posts early on. Not that I'm saying it means anything coming from me, (though I hope it does... ) but good job! I've been enjoying your posts over the last two days. Welcome to the board again!

Gary Mar's political friend is actually a family friend of mine from long ago and I think those contracts were ridiculous.# Kelly is a really nice dude and sharp as a tack but man that is brutal.
I don't recall exact facts (easily found no doubt) but I think it flies in the face of anything most of us would consider normal to make sooooo much money for putting out what seemed like very little effort. Something like the neighbourhood paperboy making a 10G per month for one hours work a day......

I don't think Martin, or any former Canadian Prime Minister's, are in the same category of "dumb" as George W. Bush. He's pretty much in a league of his own.

I agree. But I also think people are far from thrilled with the alternatives and the systems that put leaders in place. For my money it's the opposite for our countries where the challengers are concerned. I think Harpers closer to Bush than Kerry over Martin.

Well I will agree with you on Martin, although Chretien was way worse.
