I was lucky enough to actually witness a no no 4 years ago in Philadelphia when Kevin Millwood no hit cheating Barry and the Giants. Very cool stuff.

I've seen an unassisted triple play, but given the altitude of Calgary, doubt I am ever going to see a no hitter in this area. Verlander had some serious gas going all night. 12 strikeouts.

Not only did he have an amazing fastball - his curveball was just filthy and he was spotting an 84 mph changeup to complement the heat. Nasty Nasty stuff

I can't understand how he can hit 102 MPH in the 9th. His arm should have been drained...thats just impressive.

Just means that he was holding back. Shoulda hit 110 in the third inning. Slacker.

his job is to pitch no hitters every game? OK.....



You do know how rare these are, right? If you get 2 a year, it's unusual. I'd say that's rather noteworthy.

Some power pitchers get stronger as the game progresses. Colon for example sometimes brings it at 95ish to start the game, and by the 9th inning, he can throw upwards of 98/99 MPH.

I think it is wrong the may most pitchers are coddled. There are many pitchers who can (and perhaps should) pitch on 3 days rest regularly, or pitch 120+ pitches most nights.
Sure, with so many teams I doubt any team has enough starters to do it regularly, but there must be a solid number of pitchers who could do it, but it just isn't accepted practice in N.A.
