Default Looking for summer employment

Im 22 year old male and need a job for the summer (Im an english major @ MRC).
My current problems is that I don't know what I want to do. In essence what Im looking for is something new. I would prefer to work with a few people around my age if possible, or atleast with people who I would have similar interests so I could hold decent conversations throughout my time there. I would consider myself outgoing, but I have had jobs where literally everyone is 10+ years older than myself and after a while working there becomes a chore.
Like I mentioned Im just sort of out there for something new. So an outgoing job working with others would be great, but also one where Im by myself and able to listen to my ipod while doing my task would be acceptable aswell.
There is so much out there I know, so what Im really looking for (apart from job proposals) would be some suggestions of types of work, or places to apply.
My schedule is pretty much open, and I am willing to work 50+ hrs a week if neccessary. I would however prefer to have weekends, or atleast one day of the weekend off.
Thanks in advance!

What kind of job are you looking for that wouldn't seem like a chore to you? (Besides the obvious "Towel Boy at the Playboy Mansion.")

I don't know about Calgary but in Ottawa a popular summer job is counting traffic for the city. During the summer you'll see students all over the city sitting by the road in a lawn chair.

If you don't mind making somewhere in the $10-$15 range for the summer, I suggest doing turf care at a golf course. I did it last summer and had an absolute blast. Everyone was around my age (anywhere from 18 to 25 basically) and they were a lot of fun. We started work very early, and worked some pretty long days, sometimes up to 12 hours, but you get to be outside and you learn a lot of cool new things.

grounds keeping is definetely fun. I've done that 2 of the past 3 years and loved it.

Another fun summer job is working with a summer sports camp for kids. COP has camps and I'm sure they're still looking for people. Lots of the rec centres as well. Right now my job pays me to teach hockey to 5-12 year olds, I think I'd be doing it regardless of the money.

What I meant is that in my mind it doesnt truely matter what the task that you're doing is, as long as the people you're doing it with are enjoyable.

EDIT: I am also going to mention that I do have transportation, so that isnt/wont be a issue for me.

Ah, OK. I read it wrong. To me it almost sounded like you wanted to just show up somewhere, hang out and get paid. And the "old guy" in my mind was saying "these whipper snappers think they can just show up and get paid! In my day................"
