Something similar happened to me recently. I wasn't blasting my music though. In my case, one of the wires from the door speaker came off and was shorting against the door.

Also check the ground wire from your amp. Often an installer will just attach it to something metal, and that connection can come lose or corrode.

Most decks have a fuse on the power line. You should take a look and hope that is the issue, that would probably be the cheapest thing to fix.

Yup, gotta be a fuse. Either in your car's main panel or on the power line behind the deck, as Bobblehead points out.

I used to own a crx. when it was low on oil the radio stopped working. funny i know, but doesn't hurt to check. I'd put my money on the fuse as well though.

It could be your amp too, make sure that is didn't blow. There is usually a fuse on the amp as well. You didn't smell any burning or anything did you? That would be a bad thing...

I did not smell anything burn. So I am hoping it is just the fuse.

Yeah, back in the day when I was young and had a system in my car it seemed like my fuses were constatnly blowing. I always had extras in my glovebox.

Thanks everyone. My roommate checked it out for me cause I'm super car illiterate and it was just the fuse. Cost me less then a dollar.

If your deck won't turn on check the fuses. If the deck turns on and there is no sound you could be shorting out the speaker wire, most logical. Was this a self install or was it professionally done, take it back to the shop. Is this an aftermarket deck? If so how old and what kind?
