Question Stupid smoke detector question

I have a 6 m/o smoke detector that is acting strangely. Every few hours or so (no real pattern), it will go off for about 10 seconds. It is hardwired power-wise, and we've replaced its little backup battery. It wasn't exactly a cheap unit, it has one of those ionization type deals in it also.

Is it trying to tell me something? And no, I do not currently have any fires in my house.

Hi Ironhorse.
We get calls like this all the time at the fire department.
It's more than likely a faulty detector,it could be the wiring though I doubt it.

I would replace it,they are cheap enough and it should solve all your problems.

I should also add to check the service panel to make sure a breaker is not tripped.Hard wired detectors will beep if the power is off to tell you they are running on battries alone.Hope this helps.
