Default Tips or recommendations about buying a video camera?

Thinking about getting a video camera... don't need anything hi-tech or fancy -- just something to take on trips and things like going to the zoo Something in the $300-$400 range (or less) would be ideal

Any tips or recommendations about what to look for and/or how much to spend? Specific brands or models? Other options or features that I should consider?

Thanks!

I have no idea what they cost, but get one of those HD home video cameras. You'll thank yourself down the road.

Thaaats about 5 times over budget.

Depends on any sort of features that u like. There are the vidcams that record straight to a DVD (dont' know how good that stuff is though) There are still the ones that go to tapes. Then there are the new harddrive ones.

with a $300-$400 budget, I'd say go for the digital Vid cams that use tapes, thsoe woudl be around that price range, maybe only a little over.

Look around on USA sites. I've seen the hard drive high-def cameras
from Sony for $1100 or so. (I know, it's about 2x your budget )
Other brands went as low as $700.
