Am I the only one who didn't find that ching cong chang thing she did "rasict?" She just didn't speak Chinese.
I'm not exactly sure how the "ching cong chang" thing was racist either.
She can be loud. She can be opinionated. I thought that was what "The View" was about - having opinionated women give their thoughts on all issues under the sun since most other poltical pundit shows are male-driven.
Though Hasselbeck is more important to the show than Rosie simply because finding a woman that is FOR the war in Iraq is much, much harder than finding someone against.

Well, the "ching chong" reference is basically a taunt aimed at a group of people of a specific race. Not "racist" precisely, but derogatory and ignorant none the less. There's been a long history of racism directed towards Asians using the "ching chong" reference that obviously, people aren't aware of.
The problem, IMO, with identifying this slur as racist is its context. There's "Mike Richards type racism" which is overt, obvious and easy to identify, and then there's what Rosie did which was incidental to the story she was telling, but doesn't make it any less of a racist act.
What's irritating to me is that Rosie O'Donnell took a language and used stereotypes to turn it into a cartoon for cheap laughs.
I actually find her pretty entertaining. Sure she is a train-wreck of a person but she's direct, loud, and often hilarious.
Thats what happens when you hit the sauce at 9:00am to get through your day knowing you are on the View. I dont blame her, I would be hammered off my head if I was on the view too.
