Apartments in Edmonton
So...sadly, it looks like I might be headed up to Edmonton for a year for work. Does anyone up there know what the rental situation is like? Is it hard to find a place?
I am looking for a 1 bedroom apartment, preferably in or around downtown. Any suggestions on good buildings? I'm not wanting to spend more than 1000/mth and would prefer to be spending around 800/mth.

Cardboard box in an alley?
For $800 I dont think you'll find anything downtown, or if you do, you'd probably rather be in the cardboard box...

agreed. You'll need to be over $1000 a month unless you want to be someone's roommate.
Consider looking north towards Clareview as there are a tonne of new condos up there that are right by the LRT for easy access to downtown.

The average price for a two bedroom apt is just over $1000 / month. Like most things the closer the apartment is to where you want to be, the more it'll cost.

Whats wrong with that? The neighbors would be *ahem* interesting. Especially some schizophrenic with a true idea of when the end of days will arrive.

Shoot, I have the link on my work computer, but U of A has a good apartment finder. You can pick where you want to live, type of place (B, 1B, 2B, 3B...), # of room mates and stuff. I'll post it on Monday

My bro is moving out of a downtown apt. into a new condo. It'll be available end of Jan. sometime. Problem is, its a very busy place, loud neighbours and its in downtown edmonton. So you get to deal with a lot of bums and crackheads around the building all the time. Its pretty small, one room, small small kitchen, and living room. Think he paying $800 and was on the 10th floor or something. PM me if you are still interested.
Really bad neighbours... really bad. Can't stress that enough. One is mentally ill who roams his apt. all the time making loud noises and listening to music at awful levels and ungodly times. He gets taken away by the cops sometimes, and the apt. building won't evict him for some reason. Others have a yippy dog, and the others are girls just out of highschool who do nothing but party.
But... its $800/mth.
