Default The Average Age In Quebec Just Got Larger

The Quebec Nordique have aquired Brendan Shanahan from the Florida Panthers in exchange for Rob Niedermayer and Detroit's 2007 First Round Pick (10th Overall).

When reached for comment Shanahan was running from children. "They're always after me lucky charms."

"Shanahan has proven he can still play," claimed GM Prottotype, "dispite his age. He's not the youth we'd link to inject into the line up, but then again, youth isn't available to Quebec, cause we don't have the 'pieces' people are looking for. Hopefully Shanny will retire after a season, and we're in the same boat next year without that prospect that we could have drafted at #10."

The Nordique are still looking to trade, hopefully filling out their top two lines, and to pick up some top pairing D-men.

Panthers make two trades

GM Kuczaj has made two deals.

One deal happened a few days ago. This deal saw Ed Belfour moved to the Flyers for Joe Corvo, Ryan Johnson and 2,000,000 in cap space this year.

“We needed to move some salary and Belfours uncertain NHL status we felt he could be moved. Yes we weaken our back-up position but in the NEW CPHL we hope to replace him with a cheaper UFA”

The other deal, pending league approval, sees. Brendan Shanahan moving to the Quebec for Rob Niedermayer and the 10th overall pick in the 2007 draft.

“We all know Rob special but Shanny is a little older and at 6.5/year we needed to move him out. The 10th overall pick is nice but we do plan on moving it. With these moves we are now under our projected cap number but would still like to move a few players”

Good deal for Quebec as he brings in a legitimate number 1 forward, and a good return for Marty who was looking to cut salary and gets a very underrated 3rd line forward AND a 10th overall pick!
