Default Help finding compasses and local maps

I am in charge of doing something fun for my company and I am thinking to do something in orientering. The thing is that we need compasses. We will need about a dozen or so, so I will need to find them sort of cheap. Probally nothing over $10 a piece.
As for maps if anyone has any idea on these as well let me know. I am looking for just around Calgary, nothing to far as people do not like to travel to much.

Any idea where I can find either or both sort or cheaply?

Army and Navy store, or the boy scouts store should have compasses

There's a map store on 6th ave and center street across the street from the chamber that has all of that stuff. Sorry I don't remember the name tho

Boy some Finnish quality work, so your employees don't get lost. Besides if you buy a bit better compasses your employes can use them if the get into orienteering. It's a great sport.

Here's a good/cheap model : Suunto A-10

And here are the retailers: Suunto website , dealers at Cgy

I'd love to learn to navigate with a map and compass. I dig modern technology in the form of a GPS unit, one of the coolest inventions of our time as far as I'm concerned but when it really comes down to it, learning to navigate with equipment that doesn't require batteries is very good to know.

I think that you can get free or ery cheap maps of the bike paths and such at the YMCA, or even through the city. If you really want chep maps just print them off their website.

As for compasses, army and navy is probably the cheapest, but there is always MEC.
