How to break an Office Chair

Hey folks...

Bit of a weird question here, but perhaps someone will know the answer.

Ever had to remove the 5 pointed wheel section from the air-canester on a leather office chair?

Basically when you put these together they just push in, the weight of the person sitting in the chair maks sure they don't easily come apart. Now, I need to pack a chair for shipping and no amount of strength seems to break these two bits apart. Even a co-worker and i tried to pull the pieces apart to no avail.

Anyone have any idea how to do this?

well, i cant help you with your problem, but i came in here thinking i was about to see a hilarious youtube video. maybe you could tape yourself destroying this chair creatively and then share it with us?

The most reasonable is getting a rubber mallet or something simliar and whacking the base off. (Waits for obligatory dirty comment)

Maybe it isn't meant to come apart. Once it snaps into place you are not pulling it apart again.
