Default WWE Returns to Alberta in July

Hey gang,

WWE.com lists a Smackdown/ECW TV taping for Edmonton on Tuesday, July 17th. That means Calgary will probably get a live RAW on Monday, July 16th.

Keep your eyes out.

If it's not a PPV, I'm not gonna care about live WWE. Last time I went I spent $80 to see Hulk Hogan do a run in... that was the last time I'd spend that much.

I can honestly say this is one "sport" that I could never understand.

Bunch of roid monkeys in speedo's with their crotch in each others face, pretend fighting.

I hope Calgary gets the RAW on July 16th. It's been two years since the WWE last came to Calgary.

It's not a sport. It's Sports Entertainment. The matches might be pre-determined and the punches a kicks dont really connect but these guys still need to train as an athlete would and beat their bodies up for about 350 days of the year.

Steroids arent as much of a problem in wrestling as some people seem to think. Sure some guys have did it in the past either before or during their career and some may be doing it now but the majority dont and all you have to do is look at them to see it. They might have muscle but they arent ripped like a guy on steriods would be. It's pain killers that are the big problem in the wrestling business.

It's funny how wrestling haters make gay comments against wrestling but yet have no problems when UFC fighters are rolling around on the ground with eachother in outfits not much different than wrestlers just because they're actually fighting. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. And I watch both wrestling and UFC so this isnt an anti-UFC comment.

I stopped enjoying this "sports entertainment" back in 1991 when I genuinely was afraid that Undertaker would go through with his promise to put Hulk Hogan in a Coffin FOR REALZ.

This was back when WWF on TV was basically all "wrestlers" just blabbing to the camera in front of a 1980s backdrop...and then maybe a fight or two of these guys taking on no-name redshirt lemming opponents instead of other personalities. Whatever happened to that?

And why the heck is undertaker still in this? Isn't he like 70 now???

They still do it sometimes to build up a new character/tag team and to give some up and coming wrestlers a chance to be on TV.

The Undertaker is probably pretty close to finally calling it a career. He'll most likely beat Batista at Wrestlemania and then go on one last title run for a year or so.

Remember the 'taker v. 'taker match they had one year at Wrestlemania (or Summer Slam or something)? That made for about a month of damn good TV.

Damn you Ted DiBiase, and your wicked money grubbing ways. (Or was Paul Bearer behind that? My memory is getting fuzzy)

Really fighting a guy in tights is gay enough, play fighting a guy in tights is super gay.

I used to love WWF(I refuse to call it WWE) back when I was a kid, all the way up to about high school I'd say. Loved it. Now its just so ridiculous I cant even take it anymore. I dont know if its because I've gotten older, wrestling's gotten worse, or a combination of the two. But I just laugh every time I see it, its beyond ridiculous. Anyone seen those "All Grown Up" ads theyre playing for WrestleMania? Theyre so bad theyre almost embarassing.

So I guess something like Spiderman and Superman movies are super gay too? Wrestling isnt a whole lot different than the fighting in movies or TV shows(which is what it is) whether you think it's bad acting or not.

On July 16th I'm still going to be suffering a hangover from Stampede, but I promised my cousins that we'd go whenever the WWE was back in town.

I cannot wait, I hope that we get it. I went to the last raw that was in town and it was awsome. I had such a blast. Plus with it being close to Stampede we will probally be getting the raw cause they are smart enough to know that they can cash in on that and get an easy sell out.

I had a sign the last time that I went that said "Bret had it coming" Just to see if I would get on TV and I did'nt. WTF!

The thing I remember about the last time they were in town was a guy on the floor had a sign that said "TABER CORN" and he got the whole crowd to chant TABER CORN during one of the matches. Man, was he happy.

Yea that was just awsome. I think that was actually heard on TV as well.

Also for the fans of WWE, don't forget that Chris Masters will be at the Necks game tomorrow. Not that he is the first wrestler that I would go see but if it can get a few more people out to support the Necks then I am all for it.

Summerslam, and Ted DiBiase... IIRC, Paul Bearer didn't believe that Ted's Taker was the real one, so he went out to search for the real Taker. Leslie Nielson even got in on the search.

The best part was to tell the two Takers appart in the match, other than one was a half a foot taller than the other, was one wore grey gloves and boots (DiBiase's Taker) and the other wore Purple boots and gloves. Both threw out the trademark Taker moves, but it was the real Taker that prevailed in the end. And they all lived happily ever after... The end.

From Wrestlecrap.com:
Undertaker vs. Underfaker: Stupid twin angle in which Ted DiBiase brought in a phony Undertaker to combat the real one. Fans reacted so violently that the program was scrapped after one match.

WOW fond memories. That was probaly Brian Lee's biggest match ever in the WWF. He and Tommy Dreamer had a great match in ECW as well, his fall off of the scaffold was nuts to say the least.

He did have a pretty good run in DOA, back when everyone was in a stable damn near. DOA, The Nation, Los Bariquas <sp?>, D-X, The New Hart Foundation...

How many guys do you see walking around that are 250lbs and 4% bodyfat. Don't be naive, of course they are on steroids.
