Default Deerfoot closed

Hey, I heard something about Deerfoot closure for both Northbound and Southbound. Something about a cop being hit by oncoming traffic? Anyone heard anything?

As of 2:44 Friday 27, a multi-vehicle crash has shutdown northbound Deerfoot at Barlow Trail SE.
Paul Lapointe, spokesman for EMS, says three people have been injured including a police officer.
A 35-year-old male, police officer has critical life threatening injuries and was taken to Foothills Hospital."
Lapointe says the officer suffered a head injury.
He says the other two people injured are a 30-year-old man and a 3-year-old girl who are in stable condition, and have been taken to Rockyview Hospital.

Just to clarify- it appears they mean where Barlow comes in by Douglasdale. I was thinking Barlow where it and Peigan connect to Deerfoot.

I was going to post the City's website that has traffic updates but it did not have this major incident 15 minutes after the fact. I have found that the City's radio traffic broadcast at 97.5 is very fast updating and is usually accurate. It may only relate to the south but if you use deerfoot daily maybe check it out. I put it on to decide which way to get to McKenzie towne everyday.

The city's link to their traffic page is: http://65.104.36.247/

52nd isn't bad. Rush hour it can get a little ugly- and if Deerfooot is ever closed you might as well just forget it.

Mind you that was with the 4 way stops from hell, and both intersections now have lights.

I drove by the accident on the way home. (Going Southbound). That Ford Explorer was wasted. I mean all 4 sides of the vehicle were crushed. I assume the officer was off duty, because I didn't see a wrecked cruiser. In any event, I hope it turns out well.

I sure hope it's not the cop on my hockey team, I've been calling him with no luck and I believe he's between 30 -35 too . It always amazes me how angry and worried people get about their precious drive home, because of a life threatning accident. You may come home an hour late, but don't complain because someone else may not make it home at all.

The cop's name is Adrian Chong, according to CTV.
