Default Spiderman 3: Most Expensive Film Ever Made?

Interesting article on rottentomatoes.com:

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/news/c...entryid=416289

One person estimates that it costs 500 Million to make, while others say between 250 and 350 million.

At those costs it will have break box office records just to break even!

Thing that amazes me is how come they even have a "promotions and marketing" budget. Seems to me that most people will see the movie regardless of all the advertising. All they needed was a couple of posters for each theater.

But unlike Booty Call, Spiderman 3 won't kill people.

Maybe they vowed to go after the customer like me who refuse to ever see another Spider-Man movie after seeing #2?

it wont necessarily have to break box office. Box office only normally takes into account domestic (north american) pull. Also, a movie like spiderman is gonna have so much murchandising etc associated w/ it, it should have no problem breakign even. Often in times like this the pull from merchandise is so great taht the movie is essentially a long commercial (from a business point of view).

I dont think any of the executives who were responsible for this are worried about making money.

When your last spiderman movies have world wide box office takes of over 1 billion. I think it's safe to say Spiderman 3 will make everything back on it's theatrical run. Then, comes the REAL money maker (like blankall mentioned), murchandising, DVD sales, etc. This has been a multi billion dollar franchise for awhile now.

But who doesn't want to see Venom? Venom could be worth the price of admission alone.

Yeah forgot to mention DVD sales. These days DVD sales will probably outpace box office for profits

I wonder how much Topher Grace is making as his role as Eddie Brock/Venom. (I still can't believe it...)
