Default Getting rid of a cell contract

I am wondering if anyone has any good ways of getting rid of a contract. The contract has another two years and three months left on it and is with Bell. I am unwilling to spend the 400 dollars to buy my way out of it since I could go on a plan for $20 a month and only spend like $600. I have a fairly new phone (Samsung A900) in decent shape that I don't need.

Whats the best course of action for me?

No idea. Perhaps you could transfer the phone and plan to someone else?

But out of curiosity, why did you sign a 3 year contract if you were going to get rid of the phone in les than a year?

I know with Telus you can. You'd end up giving up your number as well though... just so you're aware.

I am starting a business where I will need a data capable phone and bell wasn't willing to offer me any sort of deal with an upgrade so rather than paying ~600 dollars I went to rogers. Now I just need to find someone who can take my plan or some other way of getting out of the contract.

How did you transfer the plan to him? Did you just call Bell from right there?

buy shop dummy

Paint it to look like you

Scream loudly and throw it off of cliff

Watch as it gets sucked into the turbines of a damn

Dress in woman's clothing go to cell phone company

Play the role of financially strapped grieving mother or widow

Contract gets cancelled.

Are you sure it would be $400? With my Rogers plan, it was something like $20/month to buy out, but with a cap of one or two hundred dollars.

Unless you change your plan, sign up, or resign a contract after Febuary 2007. If so the Rogers cap jumps to $400.

That won't work. The only way is if you tell them you are moving to an area in Canada that Bell does not cover. Not sure if itll work for Bell, but it did for Telus whom I worked for. It was pretty tough to pull this off, I think you needed proof of residency etc....

Best way is honestly just to do what yuo did and have the plan transferred. Maybe also offer the person taking it some money on top of a free phone if you have to.

I'm surprised Bell wouldnt give you the data upgrade. At telus they guarantee it after 6 months
