Off to Las Vegas
so I am off to Las Vegas tomorrow...
yes, once again, for those of you how know my addiction to this great city!!
so anyone have any great betting strategies?
games you like to play?
I am actually taking Saturday off from gambling and I have booked myself a Harley. I am going to the wonderful town of Pahrump. Looking for some retirement property.
Anybody been to Pahrump and can give me a few details on the area?

I love craps. Played for 10 hours straight once at the Excalibur. As for strategy? Allways bet the 8 and 6 after a point is rolled (unless the point is 6 or 8 of course). If the point is an even number allways bet the hard way for the same point. When I bet the hard way I allways include a $1 bet for the dealers (The amount varies with how much I am gambling). If you play long enough and hit the hard way enough, they will be pretty happy with you. Never press untill you have earned money off the point bet (so you at least break even and are not in the hole). Allways minimize your pass or don't pass bet, and maximize your odds bet. That is where the money is.

That is hilarious, my girlfriend just spent a good 10 days in Pahrump for Geology field school. From the stories she told and the pictures I saw it's not a place many people would chose to spend more time in than they had to.

Some Strategy ideas
Hold on 16 hit on anything under that
If the guy across the table from you is carrying a gun, its best to let the wookie win
Never gamble against a guy who's named after a state
Always gamble against a guy who's named after a city with a population of under 50,000
That girl over there thats looking you up and down and tying notes in a straw with her toungue . . . thats a man baby

I went over the hump to Parhump a few years ago . . . . . here's a safety tip . . . . don't eat at Kenny Roger's Roasters when its 110 outside.
"God Forsaken Wasteland" doesn't really describe it adequately!!!
In Parhump, I hope you like rocks instead of grass for a front lawn.

Be sure to visit the Spearmint Rhino. Say "hi" to my future ex-wife while you're there.

This is pretty much my craps strategy as well. However, I usually don't play the hard ways until I'm up quite a bit.
I like playing 'big red' on the come out roll and usually win more than I lose on that bet - but I don't play it every come out, just when I have a 'hunch' or again when I'm ahead.
I love craps. Best result was $1,400 at Mandalay Bay a couple years ago at a $10 min table. There's nothing more exciting than a hot craps table.

gambling strategy:
Step 1: Go to the bank
Step 2: Withdraw life savings, retirement savings, RRSPs, investments, mutual funds, including the money you're setting aside for your retirement property. Don't forget to mortgage the house, and refinance the cars. You own a business take a loan out based on the equity of the business as well. Borrow as much as you can
Step 3: Walk into random casino on the strip
Step 4: Go upto Roulette table
Step 5: Put it all on RED (in honour of the Flames of course)
How can you possibly go wrong?!

"Changing $1500"
Had to throw in the obligatory "Vegas Vacation" reference.
Axel, that's pretty much Death Valley country out that way if I'm not mistaken so if you like heat, you'll probably enjoy it.

I mostly played the penny slots when I was there a couple of weeks ago. Came out about $80 ahead. My secret? Star Wars at New York New York. Everytime I started to lose a lot of money I'd go to NYNY and play the Star Wars slots.

Hey Axel, good luck pal. Sorry I forgot to get back to you on whether or not I would be comin' with ya... swamped with work down here... besides, knowing how much we both like to gamble... maybe it's a good thing we don't go together!
Good luck pal! No tips from me though, you don't need any!

I was there in late August . . . . so no green anywhere. This is pretty typical of the terrain, from google image . . . .
We did drive around town a bit and most residents seemed to have manicured rocks for lawns instead of actual lawns.
Other than that, I'm sure its a heckuva place. I did like the "Hump", up in the hills. Nice driving up there.

If your at a slower table. Don't be afraid to ask the dealers questions. If your tipping them when your winning. They are more than happy to let you know the best strategy.

I picked Pahrump for a number of reasons.
a) its still in Nevada and close to an International airport.
b) Nevada has no state tax
c) centrally located for calif, ariz etc
d) price of housing is cheaper there

Actually, I'm not dissing your choice. We all have different tastes.
You asked, I answered . . . . and I was mostly kidding with my first answer.
The photo, I think, is fairly refective of the terrain . . . . .
I found it an unappealing place and fairly isolated but, as I said, we all have different tastes. Lots of people live in the desert and like it fine.

compared to all of the hotels on the strip, the excalibur has the cheapest tables just letting u know...however, the atmosphere isn't as nice as some of the other hotels cuz it isn't as new. but hey, its still on the strip.
last time i was in Sin City, i discovered all sorts of interesting table games..Caribbean Stud etc. FUN!!!
VIVA LAS VEGAS!
