Anyone else go see this on the weekend? I thought it was hilarious. Completely absurd.

I went last night. I thought it was pretty funny, but as usual with most comedies nowadays, most of the funny parts are in the previews. Also, some parts in the previews that I thought were hilarious were not in the movie.

All in all, it was a good movie. I'm a fan of pretty much anything Will Ferrell does.

Generally good reviews, and was the #1 movie last week-end:

I look forward to seeing real-life husband/wife Will Arnett (Arrested Development) and Amy Poehler (SNL ) as the overly affectionate brother-sister skating tandem.

That first skating scene they do together to the aerosmith song...I haven't laughed that hard in a theatre in quite some time. Great movie.

I wonder what the figure skating community thinks of it?

The chase scene was the best part. For how stupid that movie was, I would say its still worth seeing.

Well, considering they had a bunch of cameos from well known figure skaters, I think the community is fine with it.

The ending was completely random. It was so random, I laughed still I almost urinated on myself. you know what's bad? My friends and I would always end our stories like that LOL. It doesn't matter what it is..."Yeah, Joe came over...then he [CENSORED FOR ENDING SPOILER] for no apparent reason."

Seems like your basic Will Ferrel movie not good not bad just kind of OK with some funny parts but overall very basic and not very rooted humor

If you liked Anchorman, you'll like Blades.

If you hated Anchorman, don't waste your time watching this.

I clearly must be the only person on earth who finds Will Ferrel totally predictable and unfunny. Every single movie it's the same damn character, and well, I find it annoying as hell.

I was sort of hoping that after Stranger than Fiction (which I thought was amazing btw), he would expand his roles. Too bad so sad for Table 5 I guess.

And John Heder must be the only man on earth I find less funny than Will Ferrel. So needless to say, Im not going to see Blades of Glory, ha.

I'd say that's pretty common for comedic actors. See: Adam Sandler, Steve Martin, John Candy, Chris Rock, etc.

I agree that Will Ferrell is pretty generic in his roles. But that's why he keeps getting these new movies; because people love his comedy(including myself), and want to keep getting more of it. I also agree with your opinion on John Heder. I wasnt a big Napolean Dynamite fan. Funny, but too slow at alot of parts. I dont see how its become the cult icon it is now.

As for the movie, I thought it was pretty damn funny. Your usual Will Ferrell flick. I wouldnt put it up there with Anchorman(I still consider that one his funniest movie in the lead role--which means you cant count Old School), but its still pretty funny, and it has its laugh out loud moments. I laughed pretty hard when Ferrell's all hammered, skating around in the wizard's costume, doing that kiddy wizard laugh. If you're a Will Ferrell fan you wont be disappointed.

Completely agree.

I don’t really value his humor to me all his movies are all different names for the same thing they are all loud and overdone and almost all of it is based on a very superficial level of comedy nothing about it is very complex which unfortunately is congruent with about 90% of today’s comedy

I sort of look at it in the same way I look at Monty Python. Obviously it's not even close to the same level, but I just enjoy the complete absurdity.

I agree that comedians tend to be more limited, but guys like Steve Martin and John Candy just seem more diverse to me. I guess I just find Ferrel's comedy to be very obvious and forced...there's no real subtety or wit to it.

Then again, its just probably my tastes. He's no Mitch Hedberg. sigh.

LOL, I think that's what they refer to as a 'schtick'.

Why would you waste your time and money if you hate the two lead actors?
