Default Possible Dumb Question: Widescreen LCD for PC

I just bought a new widescreen LCD for my PC (old one finally gave in). Now while pages such as CP here automatically adjust to the screen, others, such as cnn.com, don't. Some, like yahoo, will have their page centered, but cnn will be left justified on my screen, leaving 1/3-2/3 of the right screen blank.

I assumed there was an easy fix in firefox options.. but alas, there either isn't, or im too dunce to find it.

Anyone else combat this problem?

I probably could research it more.. but CP usually is quicker.

there is no "fix", that's just how those sites have their formatting setup. you'll get used to it eventually

Next you'll find the odd site wher the graphic in the background doesn't adjust but the text does, so the text in some areas is pretty much unreadable where it crosses a busy graphic.

I'm sure it looks great on a 4x3 screen, or a 5x4 screen, but 16x9 or 16x10 screws it up.

The person who designed the website has hardcoded the size of the page to fit to an (assumably) standard screen size. Takes about 30 seconds more effort to make it variable and is normally the sign of a rookie coder.

If you use the site alot, and it really bugs you, email them and complain. If they get a few emails they will probably change it since it would not much more than 5 mins work assuming the website was not designed by a real idiot.
