Judging from the recent BEP related thread, it looks like there aren't a lot of pop fans on this board. But a friend recently played some of Justin Timberlake's newest album for me, and some of it is really good. Like really good. I was really shocked. If you haven't heard it, give it a listen. I'm not a pop fan at all, but it's surprisingly easy to listen to.

There are a couple duds though, like the first single "Sexy Back". That one's kind of dumb, but for the most part it's good music. Some examples:

The first one isn't great but listenable (is that a word?). The other two are crap, in my view, and I am not saying that because it is Timberlake. They are just not very good and annoying more than anything.

I will give him credit for all he has accomplished. I don't understand his popularity as he doesn't seem very likeable whenever I see but he has done a great job of marketing himself.

As much as I hated nsync and the rest of the boy bands, this kid's just cool. I bought this CD for my sisters for christmas and I liked it quite a bit.

I gained a great deal of respect for him after he hosted SNL. He was HILARIOUS in that. I challenge anyone to find wrong with the song "Dick in a box" lol

Futuresex/Lovesound is excellent cover to cover, the only song I don't care for is until the end of time, but even that is listenable, I think this is really his breakout album, I thought justified was really good but futuresex is freaking awesome, I really hope Vibe gets him to come to calgary...what's up with Winnipeg and no Calgary...simply lame.

Wow. I can't believe this. You guys need to take step back for a minute and remember who you're listening to. Of course the songs are gonna be catchy , he's got like 10 people writing each song. And of course it's gonna sound cool, because he's got like 10 guys producing it. But it's still freaking Tiberlake. If you take all that away, all you have is a guy who can dance and sing adequately. In my mind, these new songs arent that far away from "bye bye bye" and other N SYNC songs.

You need to remember that not all music is meant to be poignant and in depth. Some music is just for fun.

Does Timbaland produce much on this disc? Its no secret everything he touches turns to gold, and as soon as he got involved with Timberlake, Timberlake's stuff got good.

He's good at what he does. If you're not a fan of what he does, that's your right. I prefer happy music, so I would rather listen to Justin Timberlake than some emo guy screaming... even though the emo guy screaming is probably just as good at what he does as Justin Timberlake is at what he does. He's entertaining. That's what you pay for. I pay people who entertain me. He does that.

JTs CD rocked my world this guy has talent I love him.

Timberlake has writing credits on everyone of his songs on Justified and Futuresex (according to wikipedia).

When Justified was released i saw an interview with him (and pharell)on MM and Pharell talked about how Timberlake has a lot of talent, a lot of people want to work with him and he takes his music "seriously" and as a professional.

so he produces "pop" music, so did Michael Jackson. He was in a boy band....so was michael jackson.

Just because you don't like the type of music he produces doesn't mean "it sucks" and if you think it is no different than Nsync then you clearly haven't listened to any of his music and you are talking from a position of ignorance.

Love the vid for what goes around, but that's because of Scarlett. She is amazing. But the song isnt bad either, in fact, I think it's a pretty good song. JT has a boat load of god given talent, he deserves more respect from the "anti-popular" music fans.

Talk about a mass marketed, contrived little poser. I can't believe how people are giving this guy any credibility. What gets me is that there are guys my age buying his album. Talk about a sucessful marketing campaign, I guess that happens when you have enough money and experts behind you.

His voice sounds like letting air out of a balloon, and he is one ugly looking dude. Bill Gates has more soul than him. He's making the same INsync type of music just without the other goofs dancing in unison behind him. If he didn't put his little weiner in Britney no one would give a crap about this guy, he's ridden off that and somehow tricked people into buying into his disposable pop music.

Let's not forget this ###### sang a McDonald's theme song a year ago. "Badadada I'm lovin it," wow that was pure gold right there.

And what's with them throwing in a black rapper in with this guy to give him cred, that looks so forced and out of place. They've done it with all the female pop-stars and now little JT is singing duets with tough-lookin black rappers. They must respect him because he's got soul and is a killer musician, despite his skin color... uh no they're 'rapping' with him because they got paid or know that being seen with the corporate puppet will give them exposure.

The guy is lucky he sings the McDonald's theme song and isn't flipping burgers instead.

If you are one of the clones that bought or downloaded his cd hang your head in shame!

You should hang your head in shame for a post like that. I'm not saying you should like him or not, but god, this little rant here has no merit. You don't like him, fine, but don't judge people that do and bring up ridiculous issues as reason to not like him.
